Canted quads!!!!!?????????

Not Quad, but they are canted. : )

 

Well I finally did it... Still need to re-wire the high beams, but the rough bodywork is done.

 

Just want to bump this back up to the top for ol times sake

 

Headlights are alright. Car needs (hak, coff) fat radials. Blasphemy, blasphemy!

 

Has anyone seen any examples of a 57 Buick with canted quads?

 

I picked up an old Kustom 57 Buick a while back and I’d really like to do canted quads on it but it feels like the front end is really short so I’m looking for ideas of how it may have already been done.

also as much as I deeply love the Lincoln’s I’m thinking this may be a good use of the 59 Chevys since they’re a lot tighter

That’s a great use of a 59 Lincoln grill!

especially since they’re potmetal and aren’t exactly easily modified.

 

That was likely narrowed to fit the Buick

 

so the more I look at it, I think the reason I’m having difficulty seeing how they’d look in my head is due to how far out the fenders go due to the tunnels lights.
And the space between the outside of the fender and the hood seems a little thin?

That’s a pretty good looking front end already on the 57. Really has the illusion of forward motion. A very slim rolled pan that cuts back underneath would be the only thing I would consider.

Not a lot of metal to work with for quads without getting into the nice grill surround. You mentioned the 59 Chevy as having tighter spacing …. Wonder if a couple of motorcycle headlights might do the trick?

 

Future plans for my chopped 56 are pinched fenders, canted headlights and a floating drawer pull knob grill. Headlights are from ebay and are for a peterbilt.

The front end on that Buick is almost perfect as it is. It just needs chrome and a front bumper!

 

I appreciate the feedback and kind words on the Buick guys.

My thought process is I’ve spent years staring at this front end and I haven’t been able to figure out what to do with the bottom half and unfortunately my friend that started it decades ago has been gone over 10 years now.

so that said, he was a big fan of late 50’s early 60’s style kustoms as am I and given that I started this thread almost 20 years ago I obviously want something with canted quads in it but I think yall may be right, I just need to figure out the bottom of this front end end and leave the headlights as they are.

 

That’s going to look killer!! Those trucks really lend themselves to canted quads of any style

Just a thought, but that truck with those mods would look so good pearl yellow too!

 

@hotdamn I agree with @54delray. That's a good-looking custom front already. I love the canted quads, but I don't see it as an improvement from what you already have there. Work out a lower roll pan and call it good - because it is.
