  1. Sorry that you have to come to the reality of car mags. They are making money that's what they do.

There are some that play the game straight up and the rest will make it any way they can.

South park, I wish I was talented enough to make up screen names and post them. I have a hell of a time just posting pictures, honest.
It is very weird that there so many 1st time posters here on this thread, perhaps they could explane why they are compelled to post. I also would like to know.
Buffalo Bill, understood, BUT look at what they show. Is this rite?

The Jalopnik works well.. I got one in there.. :D .. I dont think it will get removed any time soon either..

The sad part is.. this day and age they have to enhance there items to give false info.. kinda like a chevy to chevy thread . some people will believe anything by a picture.. I hope you get your message accross to them..

Wow, never realized there would be this many fans of political correctness here on the board. Sue them? I guess that's the American way now...

Johnny, the comment was meant for all the others suggesting that as a way of righting whatever wrong has been done.

Had this happened, back in the day one of two things would have occurred as a response:
-The fakery would have been ignored...the person wronged would have simply taken a higher road than the people who slighted them.
-The two parties would have settled it on the strip.

I thought this was a traditional forum, yet people are suggesting very current (and lame) ways of dealing with such a minor thing. When I first read about this on Jalopnik I was actually pretty mad about it, but now that I've thought about it and read the article, and put it in a more-historical perspective I see little downside for you as a result of what they did.

You have the balls and the skill to climb into a straight-axle car that can run those kind of numbers, but your feelings (and, it would seem, the collective feelings of many on the board) are hurt by the actions of a magazine whose golden days (and influence) are long behind them.

If anything, you stand to gain from people thinking a two and a half ton SUV can beat your car. You'll be able to take plenty of people who think their lesser cars can beat yours in a race, at least in the short term. It doesn't take much imagination to figure out how to make the most of that situation, should it present itself.

They usually have a little box, hidden in plain view at the bottom of a page, that says "corrections". You may be able to get in that box, maybe.

I checked it out, and personally I would be pissed they used my car....You always hear of this car or that car got the car and driver award, blah blah..and then they go and show a bunch of pics of the car on a track while bragging how the bmw has 555hp..doesnt matter if they mention the nova or just the anglia in the article or not,,they misrepresentedthier own article.. and hell you know how many people havent a clue about how a pic could be photochopped? my uncle barely knows how to turn on the computer let alone know that you can change pictures. yet he was like wow how the hell that suv beat that car.. Hell I feel sorry for the Nova to.. I mean it might get a complex.. thats deflamation of the cars charactor to be seen running agaisnt a suv,a bmw.and the fact its behind! I wouldnt be surprised if it ran a full second slower for awhile after such embaressment.
Actually I think its bullshit, on car and drivers part.. they published it.. lead people to beleive that this suv raced all these cars and held its own with most of em.. and who benifits from this..well one car and driver for putting out b.s that will make people look..and bmw for showing how badass thier car is.. personally I would be a dick..and call the local news, they like bullshit like this where they can kick someone thats big. I'm sure the most you might get out of C&D is a free subscrition or something, but with the Hamb and the other sites stating this, along with say the news, C&D will be alittle more carefull about this crap, specially if it ends up hurting bmws image some being connected with thier mag..
    anyway thats my two cents..

I think the proper course of action is to split the difference between the "sue 'em" and the "race 'em for pinks" methods. Get your lawyer to write them a letter indicating your right to sue - but that you will gladly waive it to race the Beemer POS for pinks.

I've read the article an no where was the Nova mentioned. I have read all of the posts previous to this one and it appears that you are more pissed because your buddy might have thought you got beat by the Porsche than actually having the photo in the magazine.

Are you one of these guys who asks how much the magazine is going to pay if they approach you to do a feature on the car?

I'll say it once more, the car was photoshopped into the picture because it looks better and made a hell of a lot more interesting photo then the photos of the other cars.

Also the photographer owns all rights to any photo he takes so I guess the next time you go to the strip you had better have the announcer in the tower make an announcement each time you make a pass that no photos will be allowed of your car when it runs down the strip.

I'll keep any other comments to my self but I have to say that if the absolute worse thing that ever happens to you and the Nova is that it gets photoshopped in a magazine because it looked better than the other cars they took photos of you can consider yourself damned lucky.

Its a 4000lbs plus SUV which runs a 12 sec 1/4 whilst complying to the latest emissions. Give it a bit of credit. And if anyone has seen one, they won't call it small. Its big ugly, fast and very expensive and hardly anyone will buy it.

The guy that owns the Anglia is the one that ought to be pissed. He actually beat the SUV, but his car's photo was pulled and some strangers Nova put in instead!

I hear they have been doin this since the begining....Ferrari GTO verse Pontiac GTO. Pontiac won on ALL accounts? umm, OK.

and sueing is worse than the first offense. save it for something important.

I say photoshop a pic of your Nova pulling a fender on that Beemer and demand that the C&D folks send that photo to all the readers via e-mail and that you had missed a gear on the first race. That will show 'em.:mad:

Last night on TV there was a commercial of a lawyer that would take this case, and go all the way to the supreme court if need be.

Maybe this thread will go to 500 posts?
