$22,500 They probably read a few Deuce threads here and jacked the price up accordingly.

  5. That will be a fun auction. I didn't look at all the pictures but it would appear to be a lifetime of collecting guy stuff. A hanger with old planes and a hot rod or two just seems so right.

Man, I'd like that PU. But I am tapped out on space and money. At some point, you gotta put a cap on how many project cars you are going to buy. I'm '53 yrs old and at 6, its getting ridiculous. Theres a lot of stuff coming out of the woodwork, old guys are dying off, the guys that arent far behind are buying the cars they always wanted as they come available, and selling off other projects to finance them, I say watch for falling prices. Which I think is a good thing...

All it takes is two in the crowd to drive the deuce to crazy money. I'm guessing 28k (without the secret handshake)

This is an estate sale, not an auction. Crazy money to start with then if it don't sell, they lower it.

Wellll..... I had a Muncie M22 for sale, 2 guys showed up and started bidding it up!
I should have stopped 'em... LOL
The Modesto guy finally offered $650, the Salinas guy said "Sell it to him," so I did.
It was fair, they both showed up at the same time...and they were game.

Sale started at 8:00am, got there at 8:02, by the time I got the kids out of the car and over to the deuce it was 8:07a.m. It already had a "sold" tag on it. The 33' pickup was still available and priced at $7,500. The cabriolet had no signage on it so I think you had to ask. We had just started looking at all of the parts in the hangar when they ran us out. Even though it said nothing about this on the sale website, they wouldn't allow anyone under 14 in the building. Kind of a bummer since my estate sale buddies are ages 6 and 3 and Mom stayed home.:( I did see that the 32' frame with repro rails and cross members was priced at $700 or $750 and the second set of rails were $350. Anybody else make it over there?

I made it over there. Like you I was about a minute too late. I went in about 4 or five minutes after 8 and hurried over to the 32 frame and rails but they were already sold. The girl and guy that bought them said they were waiting in line since 5:30 this morning. That was really all I was after but I did manage to find some fender braces I needed so it wasn't a wasted trip. The 34 cabriolet was priced at 35K. I think that was a tad high since it needed a new interior and some other minor things. But it might bring it. They said Saturday will be half price day for stuff that didn't sell so maybe I could pick up the cabriolet for 17.5? Nah...
The 33 truck cab was for $3500. Model A chassis was 800 or 850. The deuce sedan went for 12K. A lot of stuff had fire damage including the truck and the sedan but it wasn't serious. I think the sedan was a decent deal but the truck I thought was kind of high for its condition.

I asked my coworker who's on the volunteer fire department down there, and he said that there was a fire in the hangar maybe about 5 years ago. I saw the couple that bought the frame rails (right before we got kicked out of the building), it looked like they had quite a pile of parts that she was guarding. The only thing I was slightly tempted by was the pair of rusty Hemi valve covers lying in the grass over by the old New Yorker. I was already on the way to the car at that point. I might go back sans kids on Saturday, it will be interesting to see what will be left after 5 days.

Thanks for posting updates, interesting to see how much stuff like this sells for. The Deuce sedan seemed like a pretty fair deal to me.

Fortunately for you. :)I think you made some good decisions. I wish I had been there earlier. I was wondering if you were a Hamber.
It looked like you picked up a lot of the miscellaneous 32 stuff in there. Did the truck sell while you were there?

I'm glad to see the '32 went to a Hamber and a local, to boot. I can't wait to see what you do with it!
