I just noticed that it will be two years ago tomorrow that I started this thread.

401 Posts and 31,657 views and I thank everyone who took the time to post up photos of their club plaque or plaques they have hanging in their garages.

We now have over 5,000 different plaque photos on our website.

  8. Bill,

It's been a great way to record the history of many clubs, find out where many clubs were actually from (the ones that didn't have a city or state on them), and reunite former club members (and their decedents).

This thread will be referred to many times in the future as people search out the history of clubs in their areas.

Also, on a selfish note, it's also been an opportunity for me to help out former club members or their sons get plaques made from the 12,000 patterns I have from the Speed Gems and Chicago Metal Craft companies both of which were out of business by the late '60's.

Thanks Bill for starting this thread, and thanks everyone for keeping it alive.

    Hey Dennis,

How in the hell do you re-unite a club member and a decedent?

Since some of us were not angels, we might not be able to reconnect if one went to heaven and the other went to hell. :D

What you wrote was nice and I appreciate it. It just made me smile :))) when I saw that the N was missing and I had to try and make a stupid joke out of it. Maybe the next generation of computer spell checking software will be able to determine what we really meant to say.

  17. That's right Mike - that was originally made by Speed Gems (although your club may have bought them thru JC Whitney or one of the other mail order houses or speed shops that Speed Gems OEM'd plaques for.

Very nice collection and many of them really bring back some great old memories.

I love old signs and collectables from the 40's on up into the 60's.

It must have taken years to collect them all but please keep up the great work in saving these important memories from the past.

I wonder if this was used as a pattern to make cast plaques or is it a flat piece of fiberboard with the design painted on?

  28. No similarities here:
