  2. When I bought the 8,000 patterns for the Chicago Metal Craft plaques from the original pattern maker, he took us to Vic's and most of the plaques on the wall above the counter were from CM (which makes sense since they were right in the Bay Area. However, I didn't find one for the Toppers. Here's what I do have for clubs from Alameda:

A Rodder sent me a photo of this plaque for a club in Beverly Hills .....

Looks to be a really old plaque. I seem to remember a car with that type of V-8 logo painted on the side. Anyone know this club or the origin of the logo?

The Village car club plaque is listed on EBay right now and the seller says it "represents West 55th in South L A California"

I found the ad and he actually says .....

"I think it's representing West 55th in South L.A. California".

Sounds like a WAG to me.

FRAMES-IFA.jpg I just picked up this set of frames for California plates. Does anyone know what IFA stands for? Was it a car club, or maybe International Foot Association?...

next 2 plaques belonged to my dad but that's all I know. I never got to ask him about the plaques. My favorite is "Curb Feelers."

  23. You're welcome. The guy that sent me the order had a pretty good artist do the art for it:)

Here are a couple Club Plaques I scored last week. One (dragoons) was given to me the original owner, he said it's 1955 vintage. The other plaque is undergoing some research, plaques.jpg it was free also. I love it when I get local goodies.

Cool score. My "Hot Rod and Custom Car Clubs" book has lists of clubs from the 40's, 50's and 60's and both of these clubs are listed. Not sure how big Fremont, NE is but I also have a couple of other club plaques from there on my website ..... http://carclubplaques.pairsite.com/Cities/Fremont.htm

I just checked and Dennis O'Brien has the original patterns for both of those plaques plus a couple of others from Fremont, NE. This would lead me to believe that both of those club plaques were from around the 50's.

The "Conjectors" plaque says SPEED GEMS MPLS on the back. And the "Dragoons" plaque says CHICAGO METAL CRAFT PORT CHICAGO CALIF. on the back. Thanks for the reply. Gary

  28. Here are the two patterns used by Speed Gems and Chicago Metal Craft to make those two plaques back in the day. From our 12,000 pattern collection.

I'm on a new mission.....to collect and display as many "local" plaques as I can. I'll have to reach out to some of our older hot rodders but it will be fun. Thanks again, Gary
