Lakewood,CA were can I get a repop casting of my plaque all I have leff is this picture ? anybody ???
I checked the list I have from O'Brien Truckers but didn't see this one listed. Maybe it's in the 2,000 or so patterns that Dennis still needs to catalog. Bill (384)
You may not fine this one as there was only 24 made with SR # on the back and each SR was issued to a individual member in 1960 and we had the casting as well all I can remember was it was casted in south bay area of L.A. I think. I went in the Air Force and when I got out no one seem to know were the casting was anymore as the club had disbanded as most of us were in the service.

The only foundry that I know of in the South Bay did cast some plaques back in the 50's and 60's. Alcast is on 190th St, just west of Hawthorne Blvd in Redondo Beach. They are still in business at that same location and if they did cast your plaques, they may have your pattern tucked away somewhere. Bill (385)
Bill I'm surprised at you - Koehler foundry was in the LA area and made plaques with thier own stamp on the back or they made them for Styalized Emblem. And that sure looks like their work. And yes, we'd have no problem making a reproduction of that plaque. Dennis
Actually I'm aware that Koehler made plaques for Stylized Emblem but their foundry was in Bell, CA which is not in the South Bay. Bud said he remembered that their plaques were cast in the South Bay and Alcast was just around the corner from where I lived for 30 plus years in Redondo Beach, which is in the South Bay. I'm not nearly as familar with the plaques as you are so I'll take your word that the Exiles plaque may have been made by Koehler. I was just giving Bud info that I thought could help him find the original pattern, if you don't already have it. (388)
Touche Bill. Being 3000 miles away I have no idea where south bay is. So I went and looked up where Bell is and you're right - ain't near any bay Was Stylized Emblem by a bay? Don't think so. Wonder if there was a speed shop in south bay that took in plaque orders and fed them to Koehler like Stylized did? That would explain why Bud thought they got them in south bay. Alcast says it's been around "over 50 years" so they should have been active in 1960 when Bud's club got their plaques. When I talked to Bub yesterday (he called and ordered a repop) he wasn't too sure just where they did get their plaques from.
Here is the Slow Poke car club plaque from Ardmore Oklahoma. We were formed in 1955 and are still a active club today. The club started Ardmore Dragway also in 1955 and still a very big part in running the dragstrip. Rick Carrell owner and Rob Ragland events director, both fathers started the club and ran the strip. Joe Carrell still works at the track and Jim Ragland is still a active racer both at 70 plus years young.
According to this Stylized Emblem ad that appeared in the November, 1957 issue of Hot Rod Magazine, they were located on Wilton Place in Hollywood, CA (not by any Bay)..... I know of two clubs that had their plaques cast by Alcast and both were done from home made patterns in the early to mid 50's. and I think there was an auto parts store in Hermosa Beach where plaques could be ordered and there were probably more. Great post Bill! Just so happens our car club, Valley Street Rods, is looking at getting a club plaque made up. We have a foundry in Victoria, B.C that will do it for us. Your excellent website will give us lots of ideas to work from.
Thanks Mo. Hope that Gord does a good job for you and that you'll send me a photo of your plaque when you get them cast. (390)

Bud, I was looking at the picture of your plaque this morning and wonder what the heck kind of car that's supposed to be. Do you know? And what is that bad looking dude behind it supposed to be? Bill (392)
Car looks to be just a "fantasy" or concept drawing of a hot rod. The guy is the "Grim Reaper", harbringer of death......
