yes i love car clubs. they keep us alive with thte cars they build, yes build, the shows they trough and the life style they live. i have been a lone wolf for my life but they time has come for me to find a home. i have talked to sevral clubs and and found myself disapionted. car clubs build cars, everything else is secoundary. yet i until very recently have found clubs that not only dont build but cant. they spend time drinking and showing there asses. i just wonder what this new trend in lets start a club to be cool and buyt a hot rod mantality is coming from. built my first rod at 14.a 35 ford truck with my dad. thats what hot rodding is. not rippiung off others to look cool i recently saw a club stiker that was stolen straight form the hamb i wont metion the club but what the fuck? Really? hot rodding is about origanality enginuity and origanality. so i just wanted to vent about it. there im done

  4. I hear what you are saying. I would love to find some like minded individuals to hang out with, lend a hand and swing wrench.

It's either gold chainers or "unique like everyone else" e-badasses. Very few easy to get along with car crazy guys.

The Iron Lords make sure to get together every Wednesday and order food and work on our shit to the wee hours of the night. I would say that 7/8ths of us make it out every week too. Basically we make fun of each other and build our shit in a community garage that we all rent. At any given time a motor can be firing for the first time, a custom can be metal finished, a car can be lowered or raised, or we can be helping a friend that stopped by with whatever they need.

It's really a pretty cool time if you have thick skin. We normally can rip in pretty good to newcomers or each other but it's all in good fun.

    Here is our shop...

The mustang was an example of helping a friend. Normally we keep it pre 65 but some unnamed asshole decided to pick up a Torino so that's in there too! Just kidding J.

Why don't you meet up with some guys who maybe share your values and interests and START YOUR OWN CLUB!?! Do what you want to do and if people don't like it they can find a different club, problem solved!

I would love to be in a club like that where everyone helped everyone and possibly have someone teaching you something you don't know or vice versa! Too many people around here wanna talk shit about what the other guy has or doesn't have!Or alot of guys are like OH i'm a lone wolf i don't need a club to be cool! Well i don't either but its nice to run with like minded people and be able to help them out as well as get help yourself when in need!!!

I guess were lucky, our club helps each other build cars. We invite people to come over and play all the time. They usually show up once or twice and never come back. The ones that put in the time and help usually get invited to join. Most people just want a club shirt and to say hey I am with those guys.

i do agree it is a symptom of the modern biker or "rub" so do we call them hub's? but this goes deeper the oldest car club in america and a bunch of kick ass guys i might add, started in 1946 by guys coming back from the war who missed that comradery that they found in the service. they had a true love for road iron 4 wheeled and 2 wheeled alike and thats were it started it wasnt about "cool" it was about brothers and speed loud pioes and making soimthing happen. that is rare today. i love beer but insan public drunkeness? i love having a good time but not at the expense of my ride sitting not running. prioritys, mine is god family then country and then my iron 4 or 2 wheeled. i bleed oil and piss pure ethel! where is that now. i know a leader in a car club that cant even change his own spark plugs! really i shit you not my friends, i would never do that your my favorite turds!

I won't mention any names, or clubs, but...I've known a president or two
    that couldn't either!
Nor even drive a manual trans car...
    BIG B.S....!
Most large groups, I will say, CAN have a hard time intimately knowing "every tree in the forest", though, so to speak...but, eventually, the imposters tend to get weeded out, don't you think?

I have to agree with ya...I wont mention the same clubs either,...but the diff between good club and a horrible club is the members who are in it, and what they are in it for...If you wind up with like minds who just like to hotrod and drive their cars and work together to get shit done..that the best club you can ever be in..
On the other hand when the scene/drama queens and posers show up..its certain death of a good club...so make sure you really get to know who you let in..

We have a group here. We meet once a week at someone's house to work on THEIR shit. Sand, weld, de-reust, fab, clean, whatever is needed. We have a rotation and once you're accepted you get into the rotation to get YOUR shit worked on.
    It works!

you are lucky at least you are building a car that people have interest in, try building a custom out of a 25 year old japanese car, the "ricer" clubs with their fart cans and big wings want nothing to do with thiis "old junk" , the hot rodders won't have anything to do with them because they are japanese, And no one out there is really interested in fabricating stuff for these old cars. I belong to an online club, once in a great while we drive long distances to meet up, usually hundreds of miles, but most of them are out on the west coast, out here we have about 10 members in the state of Georgia, if that. even on this online club, i'm the only one who does this extensive of fabrication, so i'm in a club but at the same time a lone wolf. Maby one day the rodders will realize there is a whole bunch of young guys out there who like these old jap cars with carbs and the whole deal, built just like traditional rods, and we can just enjoy the fact that we have the same thing in common in keeping old tin running and on the road. only way to keep the hobby alive, the "ricers" can go off with their cars buzzing into the sunset, i'll keep wrenching on my old "junk" and maby someday more people will take an interest and start to form some local clubs.

And at least come up with your own name. The most chicken shit thing is using someone elses club name.

Dude, after 60+ years of Hot Rodding to you SERIOUSLY think there is any kind of decent club name that isn't in use or hasn't been used?

    Get real.

I totaly fuckin' agree with you. I left my old c.c. last year because of the same shit. Everyone wants to drink at the bar every other night but nobody wants to wrench on their shit. And when we go out of town for a show they're always the ones to break down......it embarrassing as hell when you're traveling with some other clubs and everyone has to keep stoping because your bros can't keep their shit boxes runnin'. And because there're at the bar or are to lazy to learn how to work on their rides, every time something does happen or they want something done to the car they call on the same people over and over again......it gets old. Someone should tell them it's OK to drink AND work on a car at the same time!!!!! I digress..........

  30. Having been in a car club since '76 and a founding member I can say that it is a intimate social circle that is like a family in that there is good and bad, but I hope the good times outweigh the bad as they do for me. The problems arise when little hitlers arise or posers are allowed to infiltrate the ranks, and do an event, then the true blood comes out and the wannabes are scarce! After all these years I still have my buddies backs even when we agree to disagree! Hell, sometimes we brawl pretty good ourselves, but in the end, we still are a band of brothers.

Check it out, and here is the real storie of this group that was started when I was 14! Had a 1957 Chevrolet 283 glide and by 16 was converted by the club to 396 muncie tilt front end, lo buck? hell yes! FUN? HELL YES!! We all were gearheads, but it was like everything, we were just winging it with the cues we got from the American Graffiti Text Book !!!!!
