OK, how many HA/GR and SDRA cars will be at Tulsa Fri night and Sat? Randy and I will be there and we're both excited to see how our car performs on some good hard runs. We're "camping" at the Motel 6 on Garnett and hopefully we can leave our car and stuff at the track without somebody messing with it. Brad
The Ramrods are kinda in a thrash to get the new clutch/pressure plate/TO bearing installed along with the new ******...(the chrome one took a dump at Indy)...and the new shifter... ...did I mention we had problems?...
Old racer truth.......if ya don't brake something now and then, ya aren't trying hard enough. Save the broken parts for a shrine in the shop.
Hiney had a little set back tuesday arround 11 or 12 , the shop two doors to the north in the same bldg, had a nice fire, it extended to the shop next to bob, it was stopped there, bobs shop had some smoke damage, but it took out his elect and phone. He pushed the hornet outside in the rain. It is ok.
Joe, Let Hiney know that if he needs any help at all just to let me know....I'll be there with my work cloths on. Ron
Hey Mac,,, An old friend of mine will be visiting your pit this weekend. He is from Kansas. He goes by Lippy..Recycler knows him too..Give him the run down on the cars.. I'm working on him to build one also... Thanks... ****.. aka ThingyM
It's been raining here for months now, I'm scared to reschedule. Mabe we can wait till fall and get snowed out, havn't had that happen yet.
I had fun Friday night. It was my turn to drive. Nothing broke, so that was good. I lined up for qualifing against the Ramrods. About the time the first yellow hit, the damn thing just died. Ramrods shot out ot the hole. I fumbled and got it fired-up. I reved it up and let out that new clutch hard. The tires shook and spun like hell. Oh well, I'll learn. I ran it up to the shift point. I hesitated. The Ramrods rail looked like it had blown a tire. I went ahead and made the shift. Our new shifter, trans, clutch set-up is perfect. I kept my foot in it and went 106.11. The 13.68 ET represents my head not being in the game. Turns out the Ramrod car and driver were OK. They can explain. Brad was all strapped-in for the second run when the rain hit. I don't think any of us got in more than one run. I don't know all the times that were run. Crooked 6 got into the 13's and almost beat the Red Baron on that run. The Saturday race was called due to rain. Too bad. We all really wanted to run.
I spent the whole weekend watching radar and debating whether or not to head south from Wichita. I'm glad you guys got at least one run in. If nothing else, I managed to get a little work done on a flathead in my unexpected free time. It's getting to be time to start buying parts for it. I still hope to put it in a HA/GR some day.
Hi Jim, If you are planning on bringing your future HA/GR to Tulsa very soon, you might consider some extra mounts on your frame for pontoons. They could be very helpful in Oklahoma.
I stopped by to see the Powerless Hiney to day, (still no electric or phone). The RACES are on for Friday nite. This will be the makeup for last Friday's rain out. Hiney saidBE THERE.
May need pontoons here. I have relatives in Fredonia, KS. Definitely need pontoons there. Anybody know if MoKan is keeping its head above water?
