Been busy building all the stuff that was missing and is needed to change the car from the Tiger shark to the dream rod. getting closer, now have the head rests, head light assy, side trim, exhaust, nerf bars and steering wheel built
The car was originally owned by Bob Larivee of ISCA, they had a file full of 8x10 black and white photos of it when it was new. I bet they gave me 50 photos of it. They are a God send on a project like this but at the same time I have a tendency to spend more time looking at and measuring pictures than actually working.
I don't know if it would be of any use but I have an unbuilt original model of the Dream Rod I'd be willing to part with, trade or sell.PM me if your interested. Bill/gizzy
That's great to have the orginal photos. I can appreciate the time spent on them. I'm starting to build a Dragmaster Dart. Seems they built all sorts of variations. I devour every pic I can get my hands on and spend time with my divider/ compass scaling and measuring. So what goodies are you looking for yet?
I am getting close to having all the stuff that can be bought, Still need to make a tail light lense, fuel tank, battery box, the aluminum panels for the wheel wells and rocker panels and a few more things before i can blow it apart and paint it
Damm that thing is ugly.... Hahhaaha I'm watching you!!!! Naw For real doh... Looks really good...but you know that cause you got it made.
Looking good, I'm sure you'll have it finished by next year! Good seeing you and John again at the show!
Looks good Mark. Me and my wife watched the MFS #3 yesterday. She's an architech and said the latter appearance being a part of this car's history. Anyways, it's good to see you're putting it back as it was originally. History's still there, right. --mika
just a question, The dream rod did look much nicer in it's first guise one of my favorite show rods ever really looked nice. but i was wondering why you turned the tiger shark back into it i know its nicer to look at and had a good history and pedigree but the tiger shark wasn't that bad. i was wondering what condition the car was in when you got it and if chopping up the tiger shark bothered you at all, as if it was more complete as the tiger shark then wouldn't that have been cool to leave alone and save a lot of cutting up and taking away original parts. I'm not having a dig i love it and it looks great so much work. just from my point of view could the car have been saved as the tiger shark before being cut up again. and loosing some old character. thought it would have looked cool like when hotwheels released it as the python. but just a question its great to even see the car out again in any shape.and it looks like its going to be awesome.
Hey Mark, I have been laying on the couch, watching T.V., and scratching my balls now that my car is done. I know. I have it made. Ha Ha Ha
This is what it looked like when I got it. everything that is brown is rust. As long as it had to be restored, it may as well be restored to the best version
Hey Mark what happened to the old frame & tire from the dream rod, gonna build anything with that old stuff? FRITZ
After I found the Jowett chassis, I sold the frame that was under it (non orig) to a buddy that is putting it under a model A
Old showcars are the catsass.! They're like time capsules of how people thought and looked at the future in those days. I wish more folks would work at saving em' Every time I see one restored it just makes me smile. Nice work!
