Don't call your insurance co.! Check your policy if you like, but even if it's not covered & you call your company they'll list it in your record as a claim! However, once it's (or another one) is back together, call Grundy. If you keep it garaged, & don't use it for work transportation or errands, you can insure it for about $120 a year full coverage. ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver" America - made in China!
Well, just an update. I did have it insured against theft and fire, and the insurance company gave me $13,400 for it, when i only had $3000 in reciepts, yet i had over 500 hours into it, and i got it appraised at a shop, and they had a shop look at the 180 pics i had of it. And i got to keep the panel, so i think im going to make it a roadster unibody pickup, seat like 7 people, so 4 buckets and a bench in the back. But, im putting another 65 on my frame, and going to build the BADPANL first. Ill build another one identical to my first one, then ill build the roadster, and i want to keep the burnt look. Im contimplating putting a 454 in the burnt one and using it as a tow rig, or perhaps a diesel and use it as a tow rig. I also want the plates on the burnt one PHEONIX or BRNTPNL... Im going to get my new panel liscensed as BADPANL since i have the plates, ill just cancel them on my burnt one, and reapply for them on the new one. Well, just an update, ill get pics as soon as i get my new panel. Thanks for all the uplifting words guys, you really made all this much easier for me... Thanks. - Brian -BADPANL-
Glad to hear you did OK with the insurance. That's a pretty tidy payout! We go to a lot of car fires here too. Thing that strikes me from time to time is that we do this then go back to station for a coffee and cake. Meantime somebody's life has just been turned upside down. Kinda hard but it's important not to lose perspective dealing with people's lives. Have fun building those new trucks (2 for 1 offer) Pete
Yeah, they do suck. Im not sure if ill take both, i really want the 65 because the 62 had the different windshield, but i may take it depending on what kinda deal i can get, how sweet would it be to have 2 chopped panels and a roadster panel!!! i really hope i can get ahold of him this weekend about those.
it still sucks but some how I'm sure the money makes it hurt a little less good luck with the new projects Brick
nah man, i like the 6". Thats what made it soo different was how much it was chopped. Its all good though, maybe ill get that 62 and only chop it a few inches, or maybe ill just do something totally crazy that will shock everyone with that one, but the 65 is going to be identical to my first one. Thanks for input though, i like to hear what people think. BTW, it stood at 51" tall at the tallest point, 4' 3"
