Is there a cheap device I can install on my cl***ic car to find it in the event of it being stolen. Maybe a battery backup too. I have seen some but have high monthly plan fees.
Key word "Air Tag". That's Apple's. Getting to be a generic term, like Kleenex. If you are not Apple, search "air tag for Android". Hide two. The one they are going to find and another they will never find. Read how they work. they are cool, not infallible.
When researching make sure you read all in how you receive beacon / single. I was going to get Apple Air tag's & install up in frame & other unusual places , To find out if you have a Apple Device ( the thief ) it will notify the Apple Device there a air tag , also my under standing Air tag Works off cell signal & wifi , so if there No signal or connection Air tag does not work .. I am curious to what others might know On other devices ! ?
I have Air tags in mine and they don’t need a signal to work, you register them to you and then hide the rascals. The only catch is make sure you can retrieve it because about once a year you have to change the battery.
@lostn51 , I am just going off what I read No hands on , I was interested in purchasing, Myself I'm not too computer savvy or device to know if there's a way eliminate notify out side of me If my Air tag ?
I put mine under the carpet next to the hump and it tracks well. For a while here folks used to put AirTags on cars that they wanted to steal and then go get them later when the time was good. Apple did some tweaking to them and technically you can’t do that anymore but who knows thieves are a bored crafty bunch and can work around anything if you give them enough time. I will say this if you put an AirTag on my car that is registered to you my iPhone will pick it up and alert me to it. A lot of thieves have iPhones so if you have one in your car they will know it and 9 times out of ten leave it alone.
I'm going to add some 2nd hand info. A motorcyclist had 2 on the bike. The thief found the 1st unit and quit looking so there was still a signal.
