I'm sad I was only a baby in the 80's 'cause I pretty much only listen to hair metal now (Sirius channel 23!). I love the music so much; the style on the other hand...not so great.

80s hair bands????

13. I guess we haven't met.

I personally don't care if you name your ride after your Mom. You can call it a Rat Rod or a Junk rod or whatever you want. As long as you actually have one (not just bits 'n' pieces).

Arron has earned the right to pretty much do and say anything he wants. Hell he could probably build a hot rod Honda and no one would have a lot they could really say about it.

Never the less I don't know that I would try and ride his coat tails. I'm just not the metal guy that he is and never will be.

I'm a Dillan fan myself. Came into myself between the Lost Generation and the Hippies. Maybe I'll name my next ride Peter, Paul and Mary.

Winner! thread over...

18. Oh man, I can't believe somebody said this. The 80's were great! You could go to a house party and nobody got shot. Car jacking? What the hell was that? Cruising was driving up and down the strip every Friday and Saturday night until 2 or 3 in the morning. It was not going and hanging out in a re-pop diner parking lot sitting around in lawn chairs.

As far as music goes, the radio was fun to listen to and everybody I knew here in Denver was into metal. There was no buying tickets online to go to a show. We had to camp out for tickets--the closer to the front of the line you were, the closer you got to the stage. Front row seats to Metallica, Van Halen, AC/DC, etc. were less than 20 bucks. Now how could you beat that? Not to mention that at the show there were more half dressed hot girls than anywhere else. Metal concerts were definitely a place to get an "education". We were almost always in the first 5 rows or so, but by the end of the concert we were turned around watching the crowd. You saw more skin than at a nudie bar. We were constantly being hit with bras and panties that chicks were taking off throwing on stage. Stuff like that really happened--especially the Motley Crue shows.

I'll admit that I still listen to metal quite a bit. Mostly from my old CDs or YouTube. You rarely hear it on the radio anymore. People say what they will about the old 80s music, but compared to the stuff out nowadays I think our music was better. It was safer back then, and it was a great time to be a teenager. I shudder when I think about the stuff out there today for kids to get mixed up in.

I finally cut off my hair right before Thanksgiving. Had it super long in high school, cut it after I got out and wore it short for a few years, then let it grow again. Well, father time can be hard on the body, and it was becoming a race to the middle. It didn't seem to be growing longer anymore and it was starting to get thin, so off it went. Oh well, can't stay 18 forever, huh? E

The 80's brought many different genres of metal.....
All metal isn't created equal......even in the BUTTROCK ranks.....
ANY car named after a HAIR or GLAM band (or song) is JUST as GAY as the band....:D

They need to have fractions of stars for threads like this one. 1 is still too much.

Class of 1985. I grew up in Southern Cali in a punk rock band. Our guitarist was a metalhead, and the guy who arranged all our shows. He booked us with every hair band he could, and the rest of us were to lazy to book anything on our own so we played most of the Sunset Strip wile I was in high school and college. The biggest gig we had was opening for Warrant at the Reseda Country Club. We got a dressing room stocked with beer (we were all under 21 at the time, so we felt like fucking rock starts), and met Motley Crue and Night Ranger, who were there to see the headliners.

Whatever your feelings are on the music, I can say this; the guys could play the shit out of those instruments, and it was fun. Real fun. The crowds were even cool to us punks when we came out screamed a bunch. My favorite memory was when we had a new singer that new so little about Metal, he didn’t know that one of the songs we were doing was a cover. Needless to say, when he started taking a lot of liberties with the lyrics of “Paranoid” I thought he going to get killed by a shower of empty Heineken bottles.

I could listen to the Ramones over and over forever. I was watching a Henry Rollins dvd and he was talking about slayer and how much he liked them , he said it was like they kept those guys frozen in ice inbetween albums so they still think its the 80's. It was really funny.

...why don't you suck my "hoo-hoo" and find out.
Sorry if offensive to tender ears, but that was a catch phrase
commonly used by long hair dudes of the era as a snappy comeback
for such inquiries.
