Speaking of Cinderella and Bon Jovi, I went to a party of Bon Jovi's when Cinderella was opening for them in 86 or 87. I looked like the bass player from Cinderella at the time (BIG blonde hair) and security let me walk right in. LOADED with woman and I was a VERY happy guy that night after an amazing little thing pulled me into the bathroom of the hotel room that night..........God, I miss those days

Here is a couple more of me from the "old" days.

This is what I think of when I think of 80's music. Screw the 1993 date on this... it's 80's.

I'll admit to liking AC/DC and the Violent Femmes but the hair bands and dressing up was just... yeeeaaah.....

Ha Ha, Dave Shankle used to have practice space down the hall from me in Elgin, Il when he was in a local band called Vengence. Also hung out with Michael Angleo Batio when he played with a band called Holland around the Chicago area. Graduated in 85 and spent a year in Hollywood at GIT, then woke up and got a job. It was fun while it lasted :)

I roadied quite a bit for the "local' bands back then...Cinderella, Brittney Foxx...I worked Live Aid and many other shows, met a ton of people and can't remember a lot of that period in my life. Bon Jovi's producer is on the HAMB I think.. He lives down the road from me..He's into traditional cars and has a garage...Ticco Torres (sp?) is a car guy..my buddy striped his drums and Richie Sambora's guitars...good times...good times...

  11. Plowboy,

I knew you loved hair bands, but I am impressed that you know Tattoo Rodeo. I thought they were just a flash in the pan local band, I see Rick from the band a couple of times a year. Wow, what a small world.

Right, My band played a few shows with Vengence back in the day. We also played a lot more with the singer Mark when he formed O'Dette. Played the Whale, Malo's and I think Chances R a few times with them.

THANK FUCKING GOD SOMEBODY HAS SOME MUSICAL TASTE HERE.

I really can't tell if you guys are "Taking a piss" so to say or are actually really into it ??? I lived during that time and knew guys liked this stuff but I always was like WTF.

Outside of "Tallica", Slayer and OZZY here goes..........

I can understand every social group has it's heroes but the metal that has been regurgitated in this post is the over produced (marketed) equivalent of todays R&B, boybands /over dressed clown thug rappers and mall punk...

But Plowyboy and his crue can rock that shit because they are RULERS and if he doesn't nobody else will. More power to you... it's what makes the world go round. But dude seriously guys that look like chicks...does not equal excellent music.

The chicks were rad because they were in the neighborhood and it was always fun to do "em because our crew wasn't "Mattlers".

God I hate hairmetal..never understood it.

Hessians an I know them are a different breed though. This is my favorite HESSIAN!!!!

I have never stopped listening to the hair metal and the later metal for that matter. I play an Ibanez Jem and my main influences are Steve Vai, Yngwie J Malmstein, and Queensryche.

    RIP Dime

Quick story. Dime was signing autographs at a guitar store. Kid walks up with his dad and puts a poster in front of him. Dime signs it and asks "Why didn't you bring your axe?"

Kid says "I don't have a guitar yet".

Dime looks at dad and says "Gotta get this kid a guitar man.."

Under his breath, Dad says "I can't afford it right now. Been outta work."

Dime says "right on" gets up and walks in back. A few minutes later he appears with a top of the line Signature "Dime" Washburn he grabbed off the wall in the back.

"Hey kid!" Dime yelled...The kid comes up wide eyed.

"It's yours" Dime says and hands it over.

"Thanks!" The kid says in disbelief, happy as shit.

"Thank your dad kid, He bought it for ya." Dime says.

The kid totally forgot about Dime at that point, beaming at his father. Dad was just as shocked. Thats the kinda guy Dime was.

    DIME FUCKING RULED!!!!

i was still runnin wild in the 80s ran right on thru the70s and 80s and finally crashed and burned in 2005.more into the classic rock(i still cant believe my music is called classic) hendrix zepplin steppenwolf onto aerosmith ac/dc skynard the list goes on. cant think of one band from the 80s that i really liked.but i had rather listen to 80s music than the shit they call metal nowdays.they all seem to have the same whiskey voice. i really cant tell them apart.and they all holler in the same deep voice. aint singin to me.i always thought rock and long hair went together like bikes and leather. they lok like nazi skinheads to me. where the hell is the hair.im a grandpa and i still got hair down to the middle of my back. but i still like the hair bands from the 80s better than anything going today. i know the names of alot of the bands from then i can reconize the bands and their songs.but ill be damned if i could tell you one title to a song from the hair bands. they had their place in rock. they did put the fun back into the music. so i give them credit for keepin rock rockin, but give me born to be wild, back in black paranoid and im happy. to each his own
