Glad to hear you are all ok, and that the car will be rebuilt...sounds like you did everything right ... still, stuff happens, admire your spirit in quickly rebuilding...
Fire extinguisher is a must but more important is knowing how to use it.Glad no one was in the car to get hurt but the guys that were trying there best to help were outnumbered by the onlookers just watching, some not even stopping to even offer help.Hope you get your car back up soon.
So did it have an electric fuel pump? Oh and I experienced a carb fire, fuel line fire also. Luckily it was in our driveway and the water hose was 7 ft away. I was very lucky as it didn't create any damage. Glad it wasn't a total loss and hopefully your husband had fire insurance.
Big Dad I will definitely be looking in Walmart for one of those first alerts Flamed Chevy where is a good place here in Middle TN to also look for one? Thanks
Spend some money guys.. And put a Halon extinguisher in you car.. You are most likely to have an electrical short, or a fire being fed by gasoline in your vehicle.. It's best to have something which is easy to grab.. I've got one in my '62 VW.. I think I paid about $120 for it.. Cheap insurance.. It's sad to hear, and see of such misfortune in people's lives whether it be a house fire, or a vehicle such as this..
hemifalcon, I'm with you. I don't believe a $13 Walmart fire extinguisher would have put out the fire on Bobs 39. Some of us have tens of thousands of dollars tied up in our cars and we're only going to spend $13 protecting it? If your going to rely on an extinguisher, get a good one that will do the job like the $120 Halon one.
