I have a good amount books in my library that are all car related . Lately it seems that all the local places I buy car magazines carry less and less . Now I drive a ways to bigger towns to go to Barnes & Noble or Borders to buy vintage car related books so I grab magazines at those places or subscribe. But now all the local Borders are closing up and the Barnes & Nobles have done away with sections of stores with all the transportation books . Car related books they say, "We can order them, we can get them" But how do you know whats out ? Or what to order ? Any good online places to buy from ? Who do you guys use ? Any way to find out the newest car books that are out ? Thanks !

You may have a good old fashioned newsstand close by that you don't know about. Here in Milwaukee we are fortunate to have Greenfield News and Hobby, and Booked Solid, both have a huge selection of auto related magazines, including imports and small run stuff like Rolls and Pleats, TRJ, etc.

Motorbooks International is a good online resource for car books, although they can be pretty pricy. Alibris is a great resource for used books of all categories.

I spent so much money at Barnes and Noble when they had car books they should have sent me a Christmas card . Any sights give review type discriptions of books ? When most hard bound books cost 25 to 35 bucks it was nice to glance at them before you buy them . When they cost that much you want an idea of it before you roll the dice if you will like it or not.

I almost exclusively buy new stuff from Amazon, and old stuff from "Abe books".

I thought our local B&N quit carrying transportation books, but after a few questions, (yeah, it took a few different employees help) I found they put the books in the Baby book and sport (baseball, golf, football) section. They are randomly displayed, with no signage, but after searching, I found many books I had never seen, and they weren't all fingered up, cuz no one else could find them either.

amazon.com gives previews. They have one of Grumpys Toys, among other books, and I find the prices are better then any store.
