Event Coverage Car Show Accident

Wow, started this conversation as a warning to people putting on shows. There is no reason for all the name calling, just trying to make people aware. I'm glad it has people talking and hopefully will help avoid future problems. I've been several places where they allow and encourage burn outs and don't think that's a good thing. As stated in the original posting there was a mechanical failure but think he should have just been towed through the building. 20/20 hindsight.

 

I think he's referring to all the posts that refer to JD as "idiot", "fool", "stupid", "dumbass", "asshammer" etc.

doing something stupid because someone told me to do it was an excuse that never flew when i was a kid...

 

Wow, that really sucks for all involved. Hope the driver ends up physically okay and the guy with the '55 doesn't have any issues getting his car back in action.

I'm surprised though that so many people here are hammering this guy to the cross. Ya, he fucked up, he did something VERY stupid (as pointed out dozens of times in the previous posts), and now he's going to pay for it. But wow, I'm not about to be the pot calling the kettle black because guess what, I've done far stupider things than he did. Only difference is I didn't stove my car into anything and it wasn't caught on film...

I bet NONE of the people chastising this guy have ever left on a green on a city street with their foot firmly planted on firewall...just sayin'.

First, not a Gasser, an Altered - Huge difference (sorry that drives me crazy), but more importantly he was just "Blipping The Throttle" if he was it wouldn't have shot off like a rocket, this clown obviously was in gear with the clutch out (or automatic in gear) and he was trying to spin the tires. In these situations many folks don't have the experience or wherewithal to do something like hit a kill switch, they panic, and for all we know he did hit it but it was too late. As for the guy in the Challenger, I was there (see below). This asswipe was still in the show grounds area where the cruise takes place, he was doing burnouts and it got away from him (not 80 MPH) and he plowed into another participants car. he was drunk and arrested for DUI and Reckless driving - totaled one Hellcat and one Chevy Bel Air. The DUI alone is going to cost him at least $10,000 in California!
