hi there i am going to replace the carb and intake set up on my 64 poncho, i put in a built 350 that is .40 over with a mild cam. nothing to major. i am not happy with the q-jet style holy that i have on it now. i am thinking of going for a edelbrock performer rpm intake and 600-650 carb (thunder or performance series). any thoughts of set up i should go with, i want simple and reliable. what series of intake and card, and if not edelbrock what brand, cost is a bit of a factor.
    thanks

Performer intake and a 650 Performer carb. Seems to be THE set up for those cubes.

would a 750cfm be to much, a buddy said that is the size that he would run?

  4. Johnny, for starters is this a 350 Chevy we are talking about? Probably yes right, that said the 750 will be too much with the mods you desribed.

Also the Performer, not the RPM as well is the way to go.

I actually like the WEIAND Street Warrior over the Performer, and you can get it in both the square and spread bore flanges. If you are going to add more performance down the road, consider the Stealth from Weiand as well. Yes I have dynoed all of the intakes I have recommended in the past.

I am not a Edelbrock carb guy by any means, and would prefer the spread bore Holley actually. I would contact Jon, the carbking here on the HAMB, and send him your Holley to work his majic with, and you will have performance, reliability, and excellent mileage too, all the best, TR

  5. With your "mild" combo a 750 is way too much, go with what fred said, it will run nice with the 650.

  6. Jonny, the Holley you have is a 6210 650 Spread bore correct?
