My Dad has been telling me about Yamaha Carb Cleaner for awhile, so I went to my local Yamaha Outboard dealer and picked up a quart. At $10.95 a quart it seemed expensive but it makes 3/4th of a gallon of product. Mix 1 part carb cleaner to 2 parts water (Enviro crap right) nope!. Had a off topic roto tiller carb gunked up real bad, soaked it over night and it came out sparkling clean. I had cleaned this carb at least 3 previous times with just so-so results, the motor ran but not like new. Now it runs like factory new. Mike
Makes just enough to soak a bank of them damn hytachi carbs in a 1 gallon paint can - 1/2 at at a time.
What carb are we talking about anyway ? If it was that bad how does that stuff get into the jets , metering rods , float and so on ? What about the gaskets ? If the carb was that bad why didn't you just rebuilt it and do it the right way ? There is no way that stuff can get all the crud out of a carb when it's assembled ! There is NO magic cure for a carb that needs a rebuild ! Retro Jim
Retro Jim Carb was fron a off topic Roto tiller engine, yes carb was disassembled completly and all componets soaked overnight. All gaskets and parts (rebuild kit consisted of 6 pieces) were replaced. The jest of this post was to inform you guys of a product (Yamaha Carb Cleaner) that works very well. Mike tommyd I purchased mine from my local Yamaha Outboard dealer. Mike
