i just re built a edelbrock 1405(600 cfm) the previous owner took all the choke stuff out i dont really thing i need it considering im in the oven of the US, here is the problem the carb fires fines no fuel or vacuum leaks that i found but if i dont have the car accelerated it turns off, what do i? i tried the adjusting screws in the front and i also have the idle screw almost all the way in , the car dies at anything lower than 2000 rpms
    thanks in advance

Buy the Edelbrock book, make the carb right. They run great when right, and return respectable fuel mileage.

You have a HUGE vacuum leak somewhere. Look on the base plate/rear for a pipe plug......

Sounds like you have the idle speed screw screwed in so far/fast it's trying to idle up on the mid-range circuit instead of the idle circuit.
The ineffective idle mix screws tell me that.
Screw the idle needles out 2-1/2 to 3 turns and screw the idle speed screw out till is ifles at around the 650 rpm it should be at.
Then fine adjust the mixture screws.
That is if you have a "streetable" cam...

With is set to idle properly though, be prepared for it to want a choke to start it cold.

  8. it may be full of **** , take it apart and clean it out. get a manual for it

it should run fine right out of the box on your motor

did you wonder why the previous owner took it off?
