THe carb on the 60 poncho needs a rebuild, who sells kits for these? Also, any tips for someone who has never rebuilt one before?

Try Jon Hargrove at The Carburetor Shop . Nobody knows more about Pontiac carbs than Jon the 'Carbking'.

If you have a good NAPA dealer, he can get them.

yea, I need to write down the carb make and number and stuff so I can go check at napa, I was just wondering about other places just in case napa didn't have what I needed.

I just remembered, the one littl eplate on the front of the carb where it looks like there used to be something stamped is no longer readable, what are the most common places to find the number I'm gonna need to get my kit? I think they used a couple of different 2 barrel carbs on these cars in 60.

The Carbking will easily be able tell you what carb(s) came on your Poncho, he is an actual Pontiac carb expert. Easier than NAPA, you'll get what you need without any trouble. [IMG]

yeah, I checked out that page, and from what I could figure out looking at the list, there were 2 different ones that could've been used, and I have no idea which one it would be.

A friend of mine was rebuilding a 1850 600cfm Holley, and we went to autozone to get a kit... It was like $40 some for the Holley kit, and believe it or not, the guy working the counter wasn't dumb! He says "I think those came stock on a 196? Ford truck, lets see what we can find". He punches it into the computer, and we got a complete rebuild kit for like $15!!! [IMG]

Most carb zip kits for rochester 2 barrels come with all
the parts for either carb. You will have parts left over, which is good.

i had the same problem with my 60. used to be a 2 barrel car but at some point some one put a barrel intake and carb on it. my carb has NO useful numbers stamped on it. the 2 different ones dont reference with anything. i'm sure at one point it had the brass tag on it, but that was removed.

guess i'll just wait for a tri power intake to come along....

I feel like I'm talking to myself here. Go to napa or
another good parts house and ask for a 1960 Pontiac
2 barrel carb zip kit. they will get you what you need.
    Sheesh,,,,
