i WAS WONDERING WHAT THE DEAL WITH CARB MATCHING BACK THEN WAS. LARGE AND SMALL LOGO 97'S. DID THEY ACTUALLY TOOK THERE TIME TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE ALL LARGE LOGOS,OR DID THEY JUST TREW WICH EVER,BIG OR SMALL LOGO. ANOTHER EXAMPLE IS THE FUEL INLET ON ROCHESTER CARBS. OR HOLLEY VARIANTS...91-99,59-,CHANDLER GROVE..ETC. I MEAN THE SAME TYPE OF CARB JUST THE DIFERENCES AS I EXPLAINED ABOVE. IT VERY COMMON FOR PEOPE TO MATCH THERE CARBS NOW DAYS. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT JUST STRUCK ME RIGHT NOW. I KNOW SOME OF YOU FOLKS OUT THERE SHOULD KNOW..SO COME OUT AND PLAY!
There was perfectionest and people that just wanted to get the thing running back then just like there are today, but carbs were alot easier to find back then so it probly wouldnt have been that much trouble to find a set. I guess what I am saying is that I have no idea, I am not that old, but thats just my thought about it.
im not shouting..im not even talking lol. must be an internet lingo... i have 5 large logos,2 small and 1 81. im going to run mixed in my next mill.
Back then the point was to go fast. What was on the side of the carb never mattered. The big logo 97 deal is a product of the modern guys wanting their hotrod to look just right.
I built a car with a pair of big logo 97's, but one was an Elmira NY and the other a Southbend IN. Heavens!
