Help Please!!! My brother in-law has a 55 chev hardtop. He has just got it running and he said it runs fine until the engine heats up. he's telling me that the fuel is getting hot and boiling in the carb. the engine is at normal operating temp but the fuel is boiling causing a flooding problem. I have never heard of this. Has anyone out there had a problem like this. Oh yeah it has a chev 350 with a edlebrook carb. HELP PLEASE!!!!
I was told by the people at Holley that today's gasoline has a lower boiling point than it did in the past. Apparently, a lot of people have had this problem (including myself). Some steps you can take to reduce the problem is to run a phenolic spacer under the carb, ventilate the engine compartment as much as possible, and shield fuel lines from the pump to the carb...
Edelbrock knows about this and here is the solution:http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/9265/10002/-1 it is not an uncommon problem with Edelbrock or AFB Carbs.
ive started running into this problem a couple yrs. ago also.on one of my cars 62 galaxie 352 2 barrel, runs great ,starts great all the time until temp starts getting around the 90s.i can run this damn thing all day and never smell gas but when i shut it off, let it sit for say 5min, then i can smell gas around the front of the car. raise the hood and you can really smell it.BUT no damn leaks any where.then she dont want to start.and ive done about everything i can think of to stop this.i was told by a ol timer that this new **** can boil out of a bowl in less than 5 min.dont know if its true or not but when she pulls this **** i can give her a shot of gas down the throat and away we go.
