i got a 235 in a pick up, im not looking for a race car, but a hot rod maybey lol i want to go with a dual or tripple carb set up and i was just wondering what kind of carb to go with any one have any ideas? company size type model, anything will help
First off, save yourself some headaches and go dual and not triple. Three carbs won't gain you much (if anything) over two on the street anyway, and when it comes to carburetion, "because it looks cool" is not a good reason to run it. If your intake takes small bolt pattern carbs, Stromberg BXOV-2. If it takes the larger bolt pattern, Stromberg BXUV-3.
Here is some "reading" material: http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/Dual1barrelcarbs.htm http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/Triple1barrels.htm http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/RochestermultipleB.htm Have fun! Jon.
Don't shy away from the BXOV's just because they don't have the mounting spacing to fit the 235 intake. You could obround the holes in the carbs base to fit the 235 intake and that works and seals. Go to http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2207331420087987531YNbiYr or (which ever link works, ??) http://inlinethumb64.webshots.com/20415/2207331420087987531S600x600Q85.jpg and look closely at the carb base, the carbs are just sitting on the manifold without any studs or nuts on them and they have been milled obround to fit the 235 Offy intake. or you can still buy the Offy 2x1 or 3x1 intakes for the 216 and use them on the 235. The 216 intake just has a slightly smaller dia. runners but you can get reducer ring to mount them onto the 235 head. I have done both ways, (above), and can tell no difference in performance for the street. My next project is to try to switch the bases of the BXUV-3 carbs to the BXOV-2 carbs and use the 235 intake, but I haven't got there yet, right now it just looks like that may work.
