I am slowly purchasing my fenton 2x1 set up and was wondering what the size is. Thread size and length. The intake is for a 58 235. And can I get these studs @ any parts store? Thanks
Carb studs are usually double ended and each end is a different thread. Mostly 5/16" with NC on the manifold end, and NF on the carb side.
235 uses 3/8" carb studs. I don't know what thread the intake you have uses, you probably need to try a co**** thread and see if it screws in (by hand!) Stock ones use a fine thread for the nuts that hold the carb on. Like he said, different threads on both ends of the stud is very common, and real parts stores sell them in the Dorman line.
FYI: Sometimes those stud bottom out in the intake not letting the nut push down on the carb base or the top of the studs hit upper parts of the carb. The studs may need to be trimmed and/or grindededed. TYPICALLY/COMMON
I would wait until you have everything (less the studs...) before doing anything. You can check everything else to see what the thread is and jot it down. Bob
Chill abit it was just a site to help him get an idea of sizes and availability, he seemed to be not up on sizes and types.
Sounds good guys. Haven't ordered from mcmaster in yrs but will do. Parts store? Sorry for being a ree. That link is good info.
I'm up to sizes . I'm an electrician and hang **** all day with all different bolt sizes and thread counts. Thanks gerry moe. Just thought expert advice from guys that have been there would help.
I use mcmaster quite a bit, but I shop local first....I'm impatient. McM has a bazillion neat things.
The catalog is beyond ridiculous! 15yrs ago when I worked in a machine shop I had them on speed dial and they knew me by name!
A REAL hardware store will have bins of hardware,.... Once you know the sizes,....they'll gladly help you find the correct items. And you don't have to buy a whole package, either. 4TTRUK
We are fortunate to have one here in A****er (of all places!) BUT...last 2 times I was in the bolt bin, the stock was quite low...the hired help said they weren't re-ordering anything lately. I am nervous...
When I get the manifold I'm just gonna have 2 go into wherever with that ****a in my hands and just get down! Thanks guys for all the input!
Ace is the place... Hardware that is. I dunno about the rest of them, but the one by me was gutted and done over, hardware cases in the aisles now, all quality shti. They have always had a good ***ortment of stainless hardware at 1/4 the price of the local boat store. Bob
