I have a 302 that I pulled out of an old mustang pulled the carb off, rebuilt it and put it back on and it has never ran again. It is a 600 Holley vacuum secondary. I have rebuilt these carbs several times with no issues til now. When i start it the carb floods out really bad, I mean pouring out the headers bad. I have replaced the metering block gaskets with the other ones in the kits, I have replaced the power valve twice. When I pull the sight screw out of the rear bowl the fuel trickles out just perfectly. When I pull the front screw its like there is no gas in the front bowl at all. At this point, if it had enough gas in it I would be tempted to torch it! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you match the metering block gasket to the original one? There are two different gaskets (one for the carbs with a transfer tube in the acc. pump circuit and one that seals the acc. p***age in the block to the main body) that are similar. If you use the gasket made for the tube in a carb that isn't, it will flood like you're talking about. Clear as mud? What is the carb number?
The original gaskets were stuck from sitting and tore to shreds when i removed them. I have tried both metering block gaskets that came with the kit, the one for the tube and the one without. I started it again today and it will idle but as soon as you touch the throttle it dies. What I cant figure out is why there is no fuel in the front bowl. Not noticing any raw fuel running out like before either.
