Technical carb trouble

  1. hopefully someone will have some yoda style knowledge why this is happening. 350 motor edlebrock carb. truck had over heated so resurfaced the head all new gaskets put it back together she was running fine but In the morning its really rough were it wont stay on. after a few turns she restart but ive got a few clouds of black smoke I also notice theres a pool of gas on the bottom butterfly valves. should that be like that?

  3. That would be my first question as well.
    Another question to ask is how much was shaved off the head and did you do both. When you assembled did you go with thicker gaskets? It could be that there is a minor leak @ the manifold mating surface and when it warms everything swells enough to seal it up.
     
  4. Both head shaved I adjusted the choke originally I was not using the choke had it open all the time but after this problem took place I hooked it up no thick gaskets stock felpro

    Chances are it's the fuel (ethenol) in the carburetor percolating from engine heat. Put a phrenolic spacer beneath the carb to minimize the heat transfer from intake to carburetor and I think your problems will be minimized.
