Carburators for Reo Flying Cloud

Hello. I have a 1929 Reo Flying Cloud with a 268 cid flathead (6) with a Ellis dual carb intake manifoil. I hope some of you can give me some advice, on what carburators to use.

The original Cloud would have had an UPDRAFT manifold with a single 1-barrel carb.

Is your Ellis a dual updraft or dual downdraft?

What is the center to center bolt spacing on the carburetor pad?

What is the factory rated RPM on the 268?

Have any other modifications (compression, cam, exhaust, etc.) been done to the engine to increase the rated RPM?

My Ellis is dual downdraft.
See picture for bolt spacing.
Have not been able to find informaton regarding the RPM.
The engine will be rebuildt with no other modifications than the Ellis intake and exhaust headers.

I would suggest Carter type W-1 carbs; can use the 420s from 1939~1940 Chevrolet, 483s from 1941~1942 Chevrolet, or 574s from 1946~1948 Chevrolet.

If you use the 420s, both carbs must be 420s.

If you use the 483s/574s, these carbs may be mixed or matched.

Carbs are relatively common.

Factory documentation is readily available.

Parts are, mostly, readily available and inexpensive.

Power system in the carburetors is mechanical, meaning you don't have to hand-wind vacuum springs like you might on some other carbs.
