    Hi Gang,
Just wanted to throw out some carb info, they some may know and some may not.

    Mechanical fuel pumps:

ALL new pumps as of 5 years ago are made overseas and are WAY over pressured for older carbs.
Your choices are, have your old one rebuilt, or install a 1-4lb regulator.
We have dozens of folks a week calling in and they have blown the gaskets out of their carbs or have massive flooding.

ALL carbs that say NEW are from China or worse. Holley and Edelbrock have not made a carb in the US since 2000. Someone in China is using the Carter name on metric copies.
Pay thru the nose and use original carbs made here.
The one exception is Mercarb. They were made in Japan for Rochester.

Rochester 2G family. You have to run the inside filter with check valve and BOTH seals.
The one on the inside is often forgotten, the outer one only keeps metal to metal contact from happening.

A lot of the high Performance carbs of the 50s and 60s, there are no parts for certain models. The WCFB, Teapot (Holley 4000), FOMOCO 4350 and AFB 4000 and 9000 have parts that can not be found.
We had 1000 WCFB floats made, none of them work. So we are out many 1000s of dollars trying to bring them back.
If you own any of these and they still work, shelf them and use something that is readily available.

even the Chinese made 1400-1407 series that is now discontinued. So are all the OEM parts for them. My truck came with one, and as soon as I find an AFB 9000, it will go in the scrap pile.

Several of the major carb parts suppliers have gone under this year.
Daytona got flooded by the last hurricane, but they will be back for next summers rod season (hopefully).

Most carb kits from box store auto parts are imported, or less than great quality.
With the slow down of parts coming from overseas a lot of the parts store are turning to the few American made kits. We lost 3 major players this year, and so far on Daytona will be returning someday.

The few of us left are on the EPAs most wanted list. We like it that way.

    Drive On!
