    eryk,

have you had any experience with stainless nipples and spokes?

i've never thought about the reverses. i should find someone to do some photoshopping of various wheel combos i guess.

  2. You know what, I was thinking about my last post while I was driving around today. It didn't come out as planned. I think what I meant about correct was he originally posted about truespokes, and those weren't truespokes. I am still trying to learn how to visually distinguish between all of the different wire wheel styles. So, disregard my last post, it was dumb.

i got ya. yes, the photoshop job isn't with the actual wheel i'd end up using, but does give me an idea of what they'd look like.

i used to have dayton knock offs on the 63 impala i had with hydro's theres nothing like real wire wheels on ya ride they look great, to me they ride the same as regular wheels ..i guess its just the tire combo were i live has shitty roads so i went with a higher profile tire ..and reversed wheels with whites ..the car was baby blue with that factory looking baby blue interior ..thats my 2c

Yes. I've had stainless spokes and nipples on a couple sets of wheels. They are definitely more durable in terms of rust. But they aren't any easier to clean. In fact, additional polishing might have to be done after a period of time because the stainless will dull a little. My 72 spoke Zeniths were beautiful and shiny as hell when they were brand new. You could put them next to a chrome set and they'd have the same effect. After 6 months of daily use I saw a noticeable difference in appearance of the stainless. I cleaned them regularly and everything. But after 6 months the shine on the stainless just wasn't what it used to be. Nice thing about stainless is you can bring it back with a little elbow grease and some good product. But when you're talking about hundreds of individual spokes and nipples...it's ALOT of elbow grease. So keep that in mind if you ever went with stainless. Theoretically, they will last longer but there will be some give and take. IMO, nothing beats a set of all chrome 45-spoke Tru's when they're properly cared for.

If you're thinking of getting Truspoke repops...wait. The current ones are too different from the originals to make them worth the money. There are still OG sets out there. You could pick up some ugly original trus and have them redone as long as the hubs are still good. And you'd still be saving money over the repops. One of my sets is redone and they're probably the nicest set of truspokes I've ever seen. Even nicer than the brand new repops from TrueSpoke.

    Good luck man.:)

I have had wires and supremes and nothing against wire wheels but on a daily driver even for me in Atlanta Ga. they were IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean. supremes have a style about them that can make about any late fifties to early seventies car look right! From edsels to monte carlos they have the right look but 60's cars look best with em!but most importantly run what you want it's your ride and cleaning is a small price to pay for the look you want.

    did u get the tru-spokes?

  10. I've got about 15-20 tru-spokes and some Zenith's (sp) most need work and I've just been sitting on them for 20 years. What Bolt pattern do you need? Mine could be really reasonably priced. I've got both 14's and 15's in Ford Chev & unilug and 15's in 5X5.

Pm me if you want some Pics or want to try them on your car. Just pay shipping & deal with the tire mounting/dismount. We can talk price offline. Or move this topic to the Northwest Hambers group if you are interested

I've been running spokes on my 300 and Imperial for years and they're not that hard to keep clean. Worth it if you like the look.

  12. I remember a product from yrs ago, made just for wires. I believe it was Eagle products. It was 2 spray bottles. One with a mild acid, the other a neutralizer. Maybe it's still available, or can be found on ebay?

I run Appliance true spokes on my OT Caddie hearse for 4 years (check my profile if ya want)...I have kids that I bribe to keep them clean, actually the whole car clean...they look good but the only weird thing is I have broke a spoke...not sure how it happened so I changed it our for another rim. Appliance made spokes for Caddies in the 80's I'm lucky to have couple of sets of them...I want to go to set of chrome reverse with baby moons someday
