Does anyone know if the floors Carpenter makes will fit 37 to 40 Ford? Most all the parts listed for patch panels etc are listed for those years. I know some of the stamping details are different (master cylinder) but are they dimensionally the same? I want to put the one piece floors they are making in my 38 Cabriolet.
I would say it will fit. A friend just finished a 38 Coupe and he used the entire interior out of a wrecked 40 Coupe, complete bolt in operation, not a single piece had to be modified.
Thanks guys, I think it will too it does not bother me if the roller beads or indents are not the same I just want dimensionally to fit. Personally this is a better way to go as it is one piece should make installation go much quicker. I might call Drake since they made them originally and ask. Carpenter was not sure.
I did they really were not sure. Called Drake they said others bought them from them when they were making them for 37 to 40 and no one said they did not work.
Again my 2-cents. Check out Direct Sheet Metal. I used their front floors in my '40. They worked out really nice. I think you can only do it in 2 pieces (1-front 1-rear) from them. But it might be worth it.
When you say one piece are you referring to the front having the tunnel included? Not one piece front to back, correct. I don't see where they sell a 37-40, just 39-40.
Did not know '37 was different. To be correct the front floor was about six pieces. So it may really not be what you are looking for. All I can say, is that once I talked to them and found out I was putting the pieces together in the wrong order. I stopped and started over. The pieces went together like it had eyes. And it fit really nice. Gene.
Yes includes the tunnel. Yes they list them for 39-40 but the chassis, reproduction floors and patch panels like quarter repair and rockers were all the same. I am assuming the floors are the same so I ordered them. I count on some modification...I will keep you posted as it goes together.
Will the floors fit? The answer is yes, plus point is that if you install hydraulic brakes you have an access hole for the master cylinder already in place. The floors are similar and share the same body channels. If you are not a purist then you are good to go and save's a bunch of work.
