Now as I've learned there's a large disposition on the subject of corvettes here, I'd like to know how everybody feels about an early competitor: Carroll Shelby's Cobra. I personally think it's awesome, aside from all the crappy replicas you see now days. More on the subject and history here: http://americanclassicars.com/427shelbycobra/

  2. Had the chance about 15 years ago to drive the real thing with a 427 side oiler. It was all business and went like hell. It's a totally different animal from a Corvette. Given the choice today I,d take the Cobra hands down.

one of the first factory hot rods, lightweight English chassis stuffed with a big pissed off American V8, all business and no BS, a real one is barely street legal. One of my favorite cars of all time

Real Cobra's are very cool ... and I'd love to own one ... but just like the Corvettes, they are a bit off topic for discussion on the HAMB.

Have you checked out the HAMB sister site, DOGFIGHT Magazine? ... lotsa of great discussion of Muscle Cars, Sports Cars, Race Cars, etc. going on over there.

  5. Cobras are great and I'm sure there are lots of members that love them away from here. But, to answer your question, I think they are off topic for this site

Although I've never looked I think I'd be pretty safe in guessing that the net is well served with Cobra sites!!!

if you can find it, look for Douglas Rutherfords, Clear the fast lane, best book about a Cobra ever written. It's about a covert Mission across Europe driving one. It came out in 1971 but they are around

I wouldn't say it's too far off topic, it's not like a million of them rolled off the line in Detroit, pretty much hand built bare bones street legal race car
