My pals and I here in Sarasota went to Cars and Coffee at UTC this morning, where we stood out in the welter of uber-expensive exotics. Tucked in between a bunch of new ‘vettes, Porches and Lamborghinis, our cars got a lot of attention and compliments. As usual we had a good time, and chatted up a couple other people with traditional hot rods, who told us about a fun sounding event near Ocala this spring. They’re few and far between here, but we’re trying to spread the word.
I saw an ad online the other day for a Duesenberg at a collector car sales house. It said, "If you want to be somebody, buy a Lamborghini. If you already are somebody, buy a Duesenberg". I think it translates equally well to hot rod owners. Damn I love seeing palm trees.
One of my favorite golf courses when in Vegas is Bali Hai. They had 2500 mature palm trees installed when they created the oasis on the strip behind Mandalay Bay. I was playing one day when the tree surgeons had to cut one out that had seen better days. When it hit the ground about a million golf balls rolled out of it. I didn't find any ProV1s so I just continued my round.
Ya gotta go when you can to cars & Coffee events. maybe more hot rods will show up if they see your rides.
We have two Canary island palms that flank our driveway that need to be trimmed too. Hopefully next week. The Royal Palms trim themselves, just don’t park or stand under them!
