That's funny, it's is a bit caroonish anyway, with those big eyes...er...head lights, and it causes a lot of grins
on the road, even the grenola folks smiles calls it a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car !

Do you mind if I use it as an avatar?

  4. Those cars are pretty cool!!
Today I was killing some time at a local store, and found a display of the diecast cars in 1:64th scale, and in 1:43 scale made by mattel.

The 1:64 scales were pretty picked clean before I got there, on the back of the card there is a tall "T" named "lizzy", a Hudson named "Doc Hudson", '49-51 Mercury police car too named "Sheriff".

The only one I got was for a good friend of mine that is into VW's big time. It's the VW bus named "Filmore".

The 1:43 scales were pull backs, 4 different one, but the only 1 they had I liked was the '59 Impala. It dances as it rolls across the floor.:D

MrExcite, great post and very neat work. It has been very interesting to read through this one. I am looking forward to the movie now too. Having insider knowledge before you go ups the interest level.

Thought you guys might enjoy some pics of the full-size CARS characters. These are from the "Stars and Motorcars" parade at Disney-MGM Studios taken last week while we were on vacation.

  16. I saw this thread and had to get in on the fun. This is 'Rod'ger. He doesn't play well with others.

So you take a bunch of bitchin old rods and customs, oh and some streamliners and lakesters too! They live either out in the salt lake area or the area around the dry lake , oh fuck it , both and make a new movie. What the fuck, the first one was such a hit.....It's screaming for some sort of sequel!!!!

  19. I'm down with that Daddy-O!
You wanna know a sad fact related to this movie. I don't know if anyone covered this but, oh well.
Joe Ranft, one of the creative minds behind CARS , and the inspiration for Tow'mater, was one of my instructors at Cal Arts. He taught story structure and storyboarding and was very well respected in the industry; very funny and very kind hearted. His influence is quietly imbedded in many Disney films going back to the '80s.
Joe, while CARS was being made, lost his life in a freak auto accident on PCH (Hwy#1) in the Big Sur area. Anyone who's ever ventured 'round those massive sea side cliffs knows how daunting they can be.
Joe was an extremely talented artist and a wonderful soul and he is truly missed but will never be forgotten. God bless him and his family.

How ironic, watching the movie and on the confuser, sittin' here with my little girl, 1 y/o while mom and other family are out shopping, and saw this thread, while at it I called my other 2 kids, 15/11 y/o, in to show them-----> see what you can do with an education!!! (they both like the animation, but are "too kool" to admit it) so while it entertained me and the baby, it also passed on a "wow thats kool dad" bug in my 2 kids' ear?!?!? does that make sense? anyways I think one of the best parts is at the end when all those "4 wheelers" are to afraid to go off road, man I see that around here all the time!!! By the way props to all you cartoonist guys, and especially you "MrExcite...good post! I can barely get on the net and if it weren't for a -favorites- button...man it scares me to think!!!!! Good luck to you too Jay, hope there IS a sequell!!! Ken

Someone asked for their car. I gave it a go... I didn't think teeth were necessary on this one.

  28. Littleman's car shouldn't be smiling, but gritting teeth. That car looks like it would punch you in the nose!

    I just seen this movie.
Coolest thing to come out in a long time. Special effect are unbelievable.
I'd like to see other car movies under different story lines too.
Someone needs to build a Hudson just like the one in the movie.

My wife and daughter went to see it in the theatre, and loved it. We bought it a couple of weeks ago when it first came out, and have watched it probably once a day since. I love finding all the little things hidden in there, and every time I see it, I find more.

    Good work!

Mr Excite, and all the others doing the 'chops, keep it up. Those are awesome!
