a neighborhood guy had a 1920s pierce-arrow flower car, and everybody referred to it as "that antique pickup truck"!

A lot of folks walking through parking lots will take a look at my mostly original 29 Tudor and make some positive comment. About half a dozen times a year someone will say, "Nice truck.". Obviously, it's not a truck, but the key word is "nice". I don't bother correcting them, what would be gained? I just say thanks.

This guy gathered up a bunch of rusty old mismatched junk and assembled a pretty cool truck. He doesn't know the origin of all his parts and happens to get his post in the wrong thread. Perhaps his wife or teenage kid posted for him, who knows.

Maybe it's different on the other side of the Pacific, over here most every mom tells her kids over and over, "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all."

I think cars into pickups look great, or don't by how they treat the back of the cab.

In my opinion, this one didn't make it. Too bad, they spent a lot of effort on it. To me, the best ones usually start with a station wagon and move the back door forward. That way the styling fits the rest of the car. In this case it might be tough finding a Caddy wagon, haha.

    This one really suits me.

Even the color. I'd do fewer custom touches to look more like factory and use it daily.

If I came across a 57 wagon in good shape and had a few less projects in my life...

Cheating a bit here because this 1937 Chevrolet was factory-built ... but it's a nice ute/pick-up and a nice pic. Its condition suggests that it could have been fairly new when the pic was taken. This style ute was called 'well-sided' because the ute's body does not continue or flow from the doors, instead having a narrow tub with extra width provided by the timber sections on each side; perhaps it's not a pure roadster ute because it uses sedan A-posts/windscreen rather than separate, bolt-on windscreen supports/windscreen frame.

And it is the toughest part to pull off in most cases.

You're so absolutely correct; and most in this thread don't pass the visual test. A few, however, are superb.

I'm not going to go back through over 1K posts of pix to find the ones I think turned out good, but the yellow/white Ford a few posts up is one that made the grade.
