57ute.jpg Not a great pic I'm sorry, but this is one of the few that I've seen where they really got it right. '58 Ranchero roof I believe.

I don't "get" a lot of what Bad Chad does, but he did a great job on this one.

in my mind this is the winner of this thread. Chrysler should have built these.. they could have easily redefined the back window more like the 59-60 El Camino and kicked GM's butt.

this looks like a Dodge, but imagine a 57 58 Chrysler 300 version.

how much of this car is photoshop?

I don't have a matching velvet suit and a pimp hat with a feather, so I could never drive this one.

  7. it needs a water bed and wine rack in the back... though, the suspension might have the bed part covered.

Russ and Summer Eggleston of Iowa built this wicked gasser. Found in a pile of rust and wrecks, pulled out, to the shop to assess what they got, see what was there to work with and turned this 39 Willys sedan into a sweet gasser pickup. I've got a lot of admiration at what they turn out of their shop, Eggleston Kustoms. Not a lot of fancy machines, tools, equipment but waaaaay makes up for that with a ton of vision, patience and skills. I grabbed these pics from their facebook page ...

This loosely fits the category, a 1962 Studebaker Champ.
In 1960 when Studebaker wanted to restyle their truck line they were broke. So, instead of spending bucks on a redesign they took the 4dr Lark bodies and cut them down to truck cabs and mounted them onto the same truck chassis that they used since 1949. For step sides they retained the prior body style beds, for wide beds they bought the tooling for the beds that Dodge used from 58-60. They were somewhat mismatched as the beds were a couple inches wider than the "cabs"

  18. That's a stock Chevy Ute body. Built by Holden. Uses same front doors as a 4 door sedan, since those were also built at same time. Here is picture of my 52 Ute, note it's the same body as your picture. 20221002_083738.jpg

I pulled this off my cousin's property in the early 1970s.

    victory_six.jpg

It's a 1928 Dodge Victory Six four door sedan that was cut down to move a family from New York to New Paltz, NY in the 1940s.

Did I miss something? where does it specify Post Factory?
I admit, the Australian Utes don't quite fit the category of cars made into pick-ups, since they were definitely a designed "utility" vehicle, but there are several "factory" built cars that fit the category. While some of the factories might not be the Big 3, there were definitely factories making trucks out of cars. Most of the coachbuilders that built hearses and ambulances would also build a "flower car" where they basically put a bed on any of the big sedans of the time.
A Google Image search for "flower car" will pull up tons of interesting pics

  27. I photo shopped one of my Rambler Americans to see what it'd look like as a Rambchero. It's a natural!!
