There is a member from Rochester that built a nice 56 Chevy. I think his name is Ray something but I don't remember his username on here. His 56 was very nicely proportioned and finished. I haven't seen him on here in awhile and I haven't been to the Syracuse Nationals in a couple of years where he would usually be at.

Love custom threads like this and yes, I am still enjoying my custom 56 conversion. It often caused confusion when I would drive it to Michigan to see Family and participate in car events. People sometimes ask if it was a concept car that did not get destroyed. Comments like that make me feel I achieved my goal to design and build it like I thought a 56 ElCamino might have looked like if GM had built one. Even the GM Heritage Center liked it and had me park it out front on display while I was there on a tour. Gene Winfield also liked it and signed my dash in 2016 when he was in town for a workshop. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/some-pics-of-my-friends-1956-elcamino.399170/

Not sure if it's coach-built or home built but John Worden, on here, has a nice car/pickup, too.

This may be a bit fringe for this post....in the late '70's, I saw a mid to late sixties Caddy hearse diced into a dual stack/ stakebed six wheeler....it was gorgeous!!!

My Dad had one of those in a 28 model A. Drove it along the rows of popcorn plants in the field and threw the ears of corn in it when hand picking. Some of my first learning to drive lessons.

I recall seeing a similar one to this for sale in Hemmings about 5-10 years ago. It was a picture ad. I reeeaally liked it. If I remember, it had a DuVall style windshield? I couldn't find it when I searched the web, but did find this. Oh yeah! I would drive this all day long.

I've thought of this to try to make an oddball cheap car into something I would like (truck). I'm a Ford guy so have considered this for an ugly Mercury 4 door of the late 50's. Did a clip chop but, can't find it. Here is a 'Cadamino' someone should do that I did for inspiration for me. Great thread.

Damn, couldn't find the pic I was after. There is a 4 door Edsel for sale close to me right now. How about a 4 door conversion 'Edselero'. Sorry @guthriesmith. Pinky looks good but, I could be tempted to do this, I mean what the heck, I just did. I know, I should just go finish my truck.

  24. That does make a pretty good looking Edselero. You aren't going to offend me...I am still a 2-door guy even though my son has a pink 4-door Edsel.

Years ago, my father and I and a friend of his name Vernon went to the Lawrence, Kansas swap meet looking for a bed for dad's 29 closed cab pickup that he was building and Vernon was looking for a couple of finishing pieces he needed for his 37 Chevy coupe. After walking around the whole swap meet we finally spotted an old pickup bed of some kind and walked over to see if it was a Model A. Ironically, it was a bed made to fit a 37 Chevy coupe, so Vernon ended up with a bed and we went home empty handed.

  27. There's a picture floating around on the internet of a Squarebird Hardtop pick up. Supposedly a photoshop.
I searched but couldn't find it in my files. I do know that I search the want ads for a not quite too rusty donor car to try and duplicate it.
If anybody has a picture please post it.
