I had a pretty good year in 2007. I bought a few great old Fords, a couple being my "dream" cars! Post what you have bought this past year! 1930 Ford coupe- in a agarge since 62 green 37 pickup- bought about this time last year 39 coupe- sat in a driceway since the early 80's. Old hot rod with a 283 34 Tudor- bought from a freind last summer blue 37 pickup- sat in the back of a paint shop for 40 years. Has a merc flathead and covered in overspray! 1929 RPU- my friend sold the body only to me. Nicest orriginal A body I have ever seen!
this summer was great, in May i saved a 50 Ford coupe, it was sitting in a feild since 1981, the guy i bought it from was gonna put a blown 454 in it and pro street it, it is now being turned into a very nice early 50's custom and comming along quite nice. I picked up a 30 Model A coupe body, very nice shape for $900. Traded my 55 Pontiac for a 58 Edsel 2 door hardtop with 36,000 orginal miles. Plus i bought and sold 5 model A bodies, 2 model T roadster bodies and a 35 ford truck.
2007 sent me in a completely different direction. I was pretty paint and billet even in my sleep. On a Friday night in September I was looking at some stuff on the net ( hot babe, open webcam, I can give you the link ), went to E-bay and fell in love with the So What Coupe. Changed my taste, my ideas and I can't remember ever having as much fun as I have now. I found the HAMB which has helped me with my old fashioned tastes. Met a nice bunch of people..I think my life is starting over and I really like the direction
I bought this '32 pickup cab a couple weeks ago. I don't know if I would call that "saved" yet, but it's inside. Charlie
Chris, YOU SUCK! Thats just my opinion, and Im certainly not an expert. I really like the '37 pickem-up! I havent saved any tin since late '06. That was my F100. Maybe '08 will be better!
Got a 39 Buick Special this past August. Paid a 1000 bucks by a sleazy payment plan, 50 bucks here-100 bucks there, till paid off. Car was drag raced back in the day so it already has a 58 olds rear in her. Once had a nailhead , but is long gone. My goal is to use nothin but scrap/junk/ recycled parts to put her together & buy nothin new(except gaskets/fluids), so far doing pretty good. I put in a sbc 350/2004r from junk cars I scrapped this past year. Just gotta do the interior, exhaust & other odds and ends and she'll be ready for the Jalopy Showdown this spring.
I found this '37 Pontiac more-door out behind some other stuff in a guy's yard and decided it needed a chance at a new home. The chop seems pretty well done, but someone cut the firewall out. I've since found another (un-chopped) sedan with good sheetmetal on the front, as well as a good firewall with the ID plate. Now maybe someone will adopt her.
I'm always buying and selling project so I don't know if there is enough room on the bandwith for me to post pictures or a description of them all. But I will say I had a 29 roadster pickup a 34 pickup and a ton of muscle cars.
ill have to come back because if the car gods smile ill be picking up a 53 buick more-door tomorrow but besides that i got a 66 rambler and 67 chevy van
I saved 4 cars from the crusher at the Middle River auction - see link below. Got 41 & 52 Lincolns, 51 Buick and a 2 door shoebox Ford, all for under a Grand (total). Even though these are pretty much parts cars, I've already set some fellow Hamber up with parts for their projects - much better than the stuff being turned into I-beams. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=211715&highlight=crusher+has+his+day
The only car I bought this year was a latemodel daily driver,I am thinking about selling my two 65 galaxies and getting a 40 ford in 08.
Well in 2007 I discovered the HAMB so that was an early Christmas present. I also bought a 1948 Ford CABOVER, drove 800 miles to get her but well worth it. I discoverd a "TON OF HELP" here on the HAMB!!! I would like to thank all who answered all the questions that I asked over the past year. I would like to say a very special thank you to "TERRY" whos brain I "PICKED" a lot over the year with so many different questions and he took the time to answer every one of them........ "THANKS BRO".......... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all on the HAMB...... ;o)
Well, sorry don't have any pics, but did a 57 F350, and a 60 F100. Got the 60 for $500.00 and the F350 for free. The 60 is pretty much put in a motor and go, the paints even pretty good on it, a little Color Back and Wax and be to go. Unibodyguy
Bought and sold a 53 Crestline Victoria 2dr ht, 48 Plymouth sedan, 60 El Camino. Got 70 and 72 MG's free. Got a 53 Chevy 3100 5 window.
Hardly one vehicle but I hope it will be one eventually. I gathered up some parts to build a 30/31 A truck. Most of the box, a "fair" cowl, one front fender and grill shell. I have a donor truck for drive-train and will either build or find a frame. The plan is to build a safe, comfortable long-distance driver. Don't care if any one gives me flack but I'll have PS, PB, etc. Got a 4.3l V6 and 5spd from an S15. Oh ya... it'll have paint too. No "patina" for me. Around here patina will last maybe 2 years before it goes from rust to dust. LOTS of rust on the body panels so I'm using electrolysis instead of blasting. You tell me if you think I'm getting the rust off ok. I've since added the bottom pieces to the sides that someone cut off and have most of the box done. Not much tin around here so the pickins are slim to none. I'll probably build the cab from scratch. I'd build a simpler roadster to get it done quicker but the climate here demands a closed cab to get the most out of it. Maybe a solid, lift-off Carson-like top. Hmmm Thanks for readin' my ramblin'.
here's my haul for the year. the 60 had to go to help pay for the 55 though. the 60 had sat for a few years. the 55 for 20+. the 55 will be on the road next spring.
I only got one this year, 61 Chevy more door ... for free. It was rusty and shot - engine and tranny, but it was free. Draggin´it home getting it back rom the paintshop still not finished but almost there
a 1938 international 1 1/2 ton truck.... the cab has some awsome vintage writing on it.... figure it will make me a cool ride when I get the cab seperated from the gangly large frame and down on a new frame and chop the top about 5.5" and channel it
I resurrected my '29 RPU from 15 years of slumber and got the old gal running and driving again. I also bought and began building a '29 AA into a toy back on the 17th of March. Finally getting time to get back into playing again.
About the only old cars I bought were a nice '49 Hudson coupe that sat in a garage for around 40 years, and a rotty '40 Nash Ambassador coupe. Had shots at some other cars, but I never had the extra money at the right times. I also picked up some more A tin. Everything else that's come along has been late model stuff, some crap cars I turned over for a fast buck, one that needs a motor which will be a spring or summer project - remotor it and flip it for some good money. My friend picked up some interesting stuff, a '52 Stude convert carcass, a '40 Dodge coupe, and a '46 Ford truck out of one place; a couple of Napco 4x4s - one a nice '56 GMC with the Pontiac motor, and more stuff I forget. I think the pink '57 Lincoln he got this year too. Also that '34 Cabriolet carcass that everyone craps themselves over because he had me throw it on eBay with a super-duty asking price. Let's see.. that came with a '56 Ford 4dr in rough shape and a '50-ish Willys wagon that had the panel-truck type barn doors on the back, plus some other junk. The ones we missed piss me off a little.. a complete '49 Olds six 2dr fastback, a rough '35-ish Graham 2dr sedan that had a fixable body, and a couple decent Studebaker trucks out of the one place.
I bought this 51 chevy coupe from the guy who started this thread. I plan on getting it running very soon, new brakes, new tires, then drop in a 235 instead of the 216, then do a quick paint job for now,it will be satin white with a green top, and i will be dropping it about 3 or 4 inches Oh and these two HAMB unfreindly s-10s hahaha
