Hey guys, it's time for me to figure out my rear glass for my carson (like) top. I added the (like) as I am sure some people will say well that's not a true carson top or whatever. Anyways, I am thinking about just having a flat piece of glass cut for the rear window. I made my carson "like" top out of 1/2" conduit. Need to figure out how to mount or attach my glass to the top. Either by fabing up the conduit and welding on a flat lip so the glass can sit on it from the outside or finding some bendable window channel somewhere. Any ideas?

Also, how much pressure will be pushing on the rear glass when on the highway with the windows down? What do I use to attach it to the frame I built? Would the 3M weather strip stuff work on it?

Would the cloth top be stretched and tacked around the window frame first before adding the 3m weather adhesive then the rear glass?

Just looking for pointers. Don't want this glass to fly off when driving down the road...

  2. You could sandwhich it between two plates with the inside plate mounted solid to the top and the outside plate held on by screws. Just to get the ball rolling.

  3. Here's a bump for ya buddy. Someone on her has the definative answer to that question.

I made a frame work for the glass on the top. I then made a garnish moulding that held the glass in the frame work after it was padded. Don't have any pics for ya though. Pretty simple to do.
