Seeing that really makes me miss my '56.

It's looking good. Was the article in "Hot Rod" actually about making the top?

Thanks. The article was actually in rod and custom magazine. I've never read it before, I just found the article online. There really isn't much information on Carson tops online. Not that there's a whole lot to making one, but sometimes it's nice to get a little advice here and there.

Thanks for the link. I had a '56 4 door that I had seriously considered chopping, but I wussed out thanks to the glass. Too curvy for me! Before your pics, making a carson top really seemed a lot more daunting than it does now.
My '53 might just have to get a little off the top now. Would solve a lot of other problems for me anyway! The roof kinda looks like someone had a dance recital on it, and the windshield has a huge-ass crack in it. I'm sure the side windows are fine, wherever they are now! [IMG]

Thanks for the inspiration to royally screw up my car.
I know I'm new to this place, but I've been reading for a while and really digging it.

  6. Kindo fo a dumb question, but what is EMT?? Is it galvanized? How did you weld it??

Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT). It was $1.41 per 10ft. stick. I used about 60 feet. Yes, it is galvanized. Didn't have any problems welding it. I wouldn't recommend taking a deep breath of the smoke, but outside on a day with a mild breeze it was no problem.

I'm headed for the shop and picking up the Sawzall.

    That looks good.

I was hanging around the muni lot one afternoon waiting around fro opening day. And guess who showed up, Carson Palmer, with his smiling face. Lucky for him ben Taylor was there (after 9 or 10 whiskey shots) Ben gave Carson the ultimate beatdown. Carson took the beatdown like a man, and finally gave in and told us the Bungles really suck. This was my first encounter with Carson, and i got the impression that he is a real serious aSScLOWN. He is not welcome to the lake in the future.
