I'm thinking of making a carson top for my 41 chev. Does anybody know where to lay hands on some nice hardware to secure the top to the body?
My dad had a '47 Ford with a real carson top. It had the stock header latches. In the back it had some steel that came down and went into the top well with a hole in it, where it just bolted into the body. Pretty crude, but it worked and didn't show. Musta been hard to take on and off carefully.
i built one for my vw convert and used the stock windshield latches and used a seatbelt male and female connectors off an 86 Ford Escort (others will work too) to secure the back part...push a button and its off...click and its on. Simple and worked for me...get em lined up right...no problems.
Well I'll tell ya I can just see it now and I think it will look excellent with a carson top. Did you chop or lay the post at all? I would love to see some pics.
I just got the thing about a week ago I'm still not sure what I'm going to do to it but the carson top is a good bet.
can u give some more detail on the seatbelt application?? where and how to mount the buckle ends and anything else that might be helpful.........also what is used to secure the front of the top to the windsheild frame?? thanks
