I took some pictures of the art hangin' on the wall in my shop. most of these are doodles. When I'm sittin in an airport or waitin for paint to dry(like I am right now) I waste my time making myself laugh at just how far you can push a cartoon and still pull it off. Enjoy, Joshua Shaw.
Josh, As always, awesome work! I'm going to want a "doodle" for my HAMB art/computer room soon. You coming to the Nats South? JH
Man... I think Im going to skip the nats south this year and go to the Lone Star Round up. sorry man. I'll see ya some time. This coop is painted on the floor in the middle of my shop. I was thrashin on my C-dan to get it ready for a race and my girl was sittin around bored silly so I drew this thing out in sharpie marker with all the color changes marked like a paint by number. She did pretty good... PINK, PURPLE, and all!
I used to think that too, but it seems people who collect and build stuff tend to be artistic in nature. Nice work!
Great deal of talent. Send a pile to a friend and have him 'feed' a few ea. Friday night while your road bound.
CarToons - exactly what I was thinking. But honestly I think this is better quality than a lot of the CarToons stuff. I assume that "sigh" was in reference to the fact you miss the mag. I do too. Crass and Bernie. Trosley. Great great stuff. I bought an early 80s one from EBay recently. Took me back. The jokes still suck. But the subject matter of the jokes is precious and the artwork is amazing. Here's what I think. You, Mr. Shaw, should start a new CarToons-like mag. And there's certainly enough talent on the HAMB to fill the pages with quality art. Once in a while there'd have to be an issue with a t-shirt iron-on too. It seems to me that magazines are enjoying a huge streak of popularity as of late. And cars are certainly enjoying stellar popularity as well. Retro stuff is huge. And though it sounds strange, I think graphic art is popular right now as well. So such a mag should sell like hotcakes, if there's anything right with the universe.
I miss Cartoons as much as anyone. Now that you mention it, I might be meeting with a guy this weekend that could make that happen... You'll hear it here first if it happens. Thanks Joshua Shaw.
I'll be biting my nails waiting to hear more about this. Well, I bite my nails no matter what's going on. (Great way to get the grease out from under 'em.) But still.
Great stuff, reminds me of Joe Borer's work...I miss CARtoons also, and any new incarnation would be way cool. R.I.P. Shawn Kerri.
