  4. That smell is really hard to get rid of...and if you leave the car open to air it out more cats will piss in it.
There was this stuff called nature's miracle or something close to that. We'd spray it on the piss spots on the front door and it worked pretty good. Then we got rid of our cat and that solved the problem for good.
I think you can buy that stuff at pet stores. Isnt it nice its gonna be really hot this weekend to bake it in!!! [IMG]

Natures Miracle works well. Vinegar helps too. I feel your pain...

  9. If you can isolate exacvtly where he urinated, dampen the area and spread a liberal amount of baking soda on the area and let dry.Vacuum the spot(with the shop vac not the home vac as the baking soda will clog the filter big time and spread the smell all over the house every time you fire it up!)and repeat several times. Then treat the area with Fabreeze liberally.Should get most of it out.If not burn the car! 10. Burn the car with the cat in it...!

I feel sorry for you Bro..., I bought a house that had that odor and I tore the whole damn place apart, sanded the wood work and re-varnished everything, replaced drywall, and carpeting..., and on a hot sunny day..., it would just reak of cat piss!!! [IMG]

The poeple that had our house before us had raised cats in the room that is now my office. We tried for about 7 years to get rid of the smell.
Last spring the wife found some stuff at Lowes called ODOBAN. It smells real soapy/flowery when you first spray it on but it got rid of the smell and after a couple of days the soapy smell went away also. its worth a shot.

You need a product with enzymes like Nature's Miracle. Soak the hell out of it and keep it wet for 24 hours and WARM. It HAS to be warm for the enzymes to really work their magic. When 24 hours is up put a fan on the spot and get it dry ASAP to avoid mildew.

Used to work at an animal shelter.....

  13. your having all sorts of luck with the '56 lately.........
make the cat clean it up...........or that natures miricle stuff works good.

There is some stuff you should be able to find at pet stores.
It chemicaly reacts with the piss, and nutralizes it.

BTW, cat piss is a small problem compaired to what happened to my brothers car when he forgot to lock it one night.
A junkie went to sleep in it, and left some needles in the car and took a***** on the upholstery before he left.
But my lil bro was living in a rough neighbourhood in Amsterdam at the time...

  15. Wash the area with a solution of warm water, antibacterial dish soap and white vinegar; then use Nature's Miracle or similar.

  16. I had a van that a few cats lived in for a while. I cleaned it as best I could with 409 and carpet cleaners then I took a pie tin full of apple slices and put it under each seat. Then I took a bucket of charcoal, not the stuff with lighter fluid it it, but the cheap stuff in the supermarket. The apples and charcoal absorb the odor.

Put them both in there at the same time and a few days later, no more cat piss scent.

Then you go out an find a cat (doesn't need to be the same one) and smack it around a bit. You might want to put it under a bright light and interrogate the fuzzy little******** to find out who did the actual********. Cats are sneaky sumbitches, they have an underground communications network and that beating will be all over their wires.

Not many people know this about cats, that's why I have dogs.

I'm serious about the apples and charcoal, it works.

We've got some Toms around here that want to mark everything (getting to be a good shot with the Red Rider)

I've found that putting the offended item in water and soaking it, changing the water often, removes the smell.
Our cat got locked in the basement and used the two duffle bags that had my good back packing tents in them. Several times. I put them in a big metal tub full of water and left them in there for about a week, turning the hose on and flushing/changing all the water occasionally. An oily film would appear on top of the water--I'm guessing that was the cat whiz. When there was no film on the water, the smell was gone. It's worked on clothes, too--put them in the washing machine and soak them for a few days, changing the water.

You might be able to do the same thing by pushing the car in a river.

I knew this topic would open a can of worms [IMG]
The first thought that came to my mind was "audios gato!"
But I need him around for the mice, and to keep the Tom Cats from spraying my wheels and yard. It's like a catch 22.

Can't get rid of the truck. But it is time to tear out the carpet. I'm not sure exactly where it is, and I've had to do the sniff test before. Boy does it***** when you find it [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    To answer your question;
My kids like to play in the truck while it's in the back yard where I keep it. So to keep them quite while I'm working on it, I open the doors and let them play. Just like I did when I was their age (the trucks a hand-me down from my pops). The cat jumps in from time to time and climbs under the seat to sleep. There for getting locked in when I close it up. Next time I'll have to look under the seat or blast the horn 3 times....
Maybe I'll get on of the little fog horns in a can. That should***** him up good.

I'll swing by the pet store on my way home.

    Thanks

Urine has phosphorus in it and will glow under a black light. When it is very dark take a flourescent black light and shine it over the carpet, the piss spots will glow white-ish yellow. The best way to really get rid of the urine is to use a product like the one recommended at JustRite.com ... the way it was explained to me is that these products (including those found at the pet stores) have active bacteria that eat the urine then die off and turn into C02 and water. Ordinary cleaners and other products merely dilute or mask the odor but never effectively eliminate the cause of the smell like the bacteria-based solutions. I have just ordered a kit from JustRite, the guy (Bill) I spoke to was very helpful and explained the whole process in great detail. Good Luck!

    man - that*****s.

I'd try Carb Cleaner after the sniff test. If it will clean paint pen off of upolstery; it will probably clean cat piss.

OR, At pet stores they sell an enzyme solution for getting up pet stuff.

I bought some of that Natures Miracle and a black light on my way home. Waited till night and looked for the glowing piss. Found some spots I thought might be it, so I sprayed everything. A bit more on the spots.
I also tried it in the house where I know they had pissed before, and those spots glowed like anti-freeze. So I continued my search. The whole*****in' house is glowing in the black light.
I read the box again. It also detect saliva. I have 2 critters, a year old and a 2 1/2 yr old. Those kids have been drooling up a*****ing tsunami when new teeth come in.
    So I sprayed.

This morning I checked the truck, not bad.
Waited till it got good and hot, whew, still there. So I decided to do the sniff test [IMG], and to all my luck, I found the main spots and sprayed the hell out of them.
ya know how you sniff something and you can taste it afterwards? [IMG]

I want to thank Uptownjoe for the carb cleaner info. One shot up each nostral, blam, smell and taste gone. Thanks man.

The carpet is coming out if this didn't do it. It's old and looks like***** anyhow. besides, it only cost 10-15 bucks for a new chunk of indoor/out door from Home Depot.

Charlieled, let me know when you get that stuff, I just might take you up on it. Or just want to know how well it worked for ya.
