It's easy to come off sounding like a zealot, but Aust is absolutely right about the dangers. But hey forget the danger, because, after all, danger is our middle name, right?! Whatever.

Flame throwers are LAME. Unless you're shooting flames in your T/F car or something along those lines, I don't see the difference between Flame Throwers and, say, one of those old "Don Garlit's fake Hilborn over the quadrajet carb thingies". Well, except the real FIRE!

Oh well, I guess we're all pretenders to some extent.

 

i dont have a problem with flame throwers but i do agree that flames that close to the rubber red fuel line is super sketchy. i had flame throwers on my 51 ford and took them off cause i liked that car and really didnt want to burn it down. and im way to inmature to have them and stay safe.

Why is it a car like the Doane Spencer Roadster or the Hirohata Merc doesn't need to shoot fire to get people to look at it? Something to think about!

Yeah, but I haven't had a REALLY good one since back in the days when people told me NUMEROUS times I'm not allowed to have an opinion because I was a magazine guy.

As long as people keep debating how cool it is expect me to have a differing opinion. Just like the whiners who get all upset when someone gets kicked out of event for spinning tires or lighting flamethrowers in the middle of a big crowd of people. I understand what you are saying about fire, and I respect your point of view. I was in Scouting for a long time and you learn all about fire safety, so it's not something that I screw around with.

 

I am 2/3 your age, Jim. Or, you are 150% older than I am. Whichever you'd prefer.

 

What was not shown in the first picture was it was taken in front of the fire station with 5 fire trucks, 2 ambulances, firefighters, emts in attendance with the crowd way back. I know I was one of the firefighters. It only would have only taken seconds to hit the foam.

PS, I really do hate flame throwers....a lot.

 

It's all a matter of responsibility..He's not responsible for the dumb***es who put thier kids front and center when he's doing this,and he's not responsible for the idiots playing with fireworks..I see nothing wrong with doing this for show and STAGED photo ops with the cops..Mind you,I've also had friends who've lost thier lives fighting fires and losing limbs playing with firecrackers..But do you see me throwing a *****fit..NO..Blaming him for your friends losses and *****ing him out is like me blaming God for creating hate..It all boils down to responsibility,and if parents are too stupid to tell thier kids to stand back or adults are too stupid to realize they need to run about 15 feet after lighting a fuse,that's thier problem..

I don't see how fire shooting from the pipes computes into Smog testing.

and even then, how the heck does that make Hot Rods go extinct? we're an adaptive group. we tend to get around silly stuff like emissions testing.

Damn, this has become one hell of a ******* match. If you don't like airbags, don't put them on your car. If you don't like fender skirts, don't put them on you car. If you dont' like flame throwers, guess what, don't put them on your car.

Yeah, I agree, it looks pretty dangerous, but I'm not his dad; and mine always told me you wanna play, you gotta pay. If he blows himself up, it's his own ***. And I don't see any cops making paople stand around and watch, so I would imagine that they were there because they tought it was worth looking at.

Flame throwers are dangerous, news flash: so is the hobby you're currently engaged in, unless that is, you like just looking at it in the garage.
