Thanks for all the kind words, just didn't want anyone going up in flames like I almost did.

That's what I did. No more trouble when dropped.

I've been using LEDs for a long distance. Never go back.

Glad your OK. Been using LED lights for years, always hated the old drop lights. This tip should be added to the garage tips thread for safety. Lots of followers on that one.

A local shop burned to the ground from a similar incident involving an incandescent light. Glad you're ok.

  7. When I worked at Jaguar we still had the old lights .

I was working under the dash on an old jag and went to lunch.

we came back to a horrid smell in the shop, the light melted the carpet on the p***enger side of the car!!!

the entire shop stank of burnt hair !!!

luckily our upholstery guy was able to cut a bit of carpet out from under the seat and do a seamless repair .

we switched to florecent lights the next day !!

Been using led rechargeable lights for years .

Since my original post, I've bought and am using a rechargeable square LED light plus a smaller handheld one. The square on has a handle you can position and sit it on to point the light where you want it to go. It only lasts about 3-4 hours, but when it's on, it's like daylight! Most of the time, when it runs sown, I'm ready to quit anyway.

use a led shop lamp ( normally for the ceiling) and put it on a narrow piece of s**** plywood it makes a great light under the car super light output and cool to the touch and very inexpensive
