I am running into clearance issues on my A coupe, the biggest fan that I will be able to run (without major modifications) is 11 x 11.5. I've found one this size and its rated at 1000 CFMs with 7 amp draw. My question is will this keep my car cool? Motor is a stock 283 with a four barrel. Radiator is a '65 mustang V8. Thanks.

I think you will find it pulls more than 7 volts. Also at start up it will pull 25 are so. Also I don't think it will cool the car at idle an only iffy at speed. That's just my thoughts.

There is a world of difference between the 1000 cfm Autozone type fans and one like a 2700 SPAL or similar brand. IMO that one you mentioned will not do very little. They also don't last very long but a good one will last years, making it a better investment long term.

Can you set it up so you can turn it off at highway speeds ? I find they do nothing to help at those speeds yet very handy at idle speeds or in city traffic.

Not many Model A coupes came out with an electric fan. They just don't look right. But I realize sometimes cooling is important. That said, you need a minimum of 2500cfm and a good shroud. Many fans are made to do the job. But we have found that the local salvage yards are full of factory proven electric fans that have built in shrouds and work well.
There are many types of auto on-off switches also. Do not ever think of running it without a good relay and heavy duty switch/wiring. Fans pull a lot of amps. Also a short cut is a simple off on switch. You will remember to turn it on when the radiator gets hot. You will eventually remember to turn it off when the battery drains.
