I am hoping you guys can tell me what these heads are worth. A friend of mine p***ed away recently and I am helping to clean out his machine shop. This pair of Champion heads were in progress as he had nickel-bronze brazed some material around the top of some of the head bolt holes to fill in some grooves. I machined off the brazing which required carbide tooling because it is so hard. They look to be in good shape to me, but I am not an expert. One of the heads has "020" stamped on the lower surface, which I am guessing means someone took .020" off the sealing surfaces, but I have no reference to measure that. I could cc the chambers if someone knows what the original volume is supposed to be. I need to sell them, so I am hoping you can help me figure out a fair price.

More info on the Champion heads. Looks like they were built by Fenton and available in 7.5 or 8.5 compression. I ***ume the 8.5 heads were just decked before they sent them out. champion head price.jpg Champion heads.jpg

I met a guy at our local Cars and Coffee meet who said that no one wants original heads anymore because the repro heads are better. Says he will give me $100 for the pair just to use them for display. Should I take him up on it?

I don't have a clue what they would be worth but I think they're cool! If you were close to me and would be willing to take a $100 I'd jump on them! I think they would look killer all cleaned up and sitting on a motor!!

I placed an ad for these for $800/pair and received multiple full-price offers within a couple of hours of placing the ad. Clearly, I sold them too cheap, but I just didn't know what they were worth. It is hard to figure out the price for rare items. Next time I will do a little more research.

Sadly, the dude who offered you $100 knew exactly what they were worth. Take it as a hard lesson learned. Sorry about that, especially since this is going to help his widow.
