I know the chances of finding any good solid model 58 Chevy is slim but my dream car has always been a 58 Impala. Like most the guys my age it was American Graffitti car that planted the seed but cars like Lee Pratts is where its at for me...I've had my shares of ups and downs the last couple of years with the dreams of ever owning one falling further out of sight with the reality 'its prob never going to happen' esp cause of the demand/price on them is nuts but its still a pretty kool dream. Through all my problems the one thing i was able to keep i was forced to sell cause my financial situation was not getting any better. So the final steps came to sell my 1930 Ford Model A Coupe that i've owned since graduating in '91 and planned to hand down to my 6yr old son at some point. I was kool with my decission until i watched the trailor of fellow hamber 1OLDRAT pull away with what felt like the last part of me. I hadnt shed a tear in awhile and it happend that moment but still something about it just felt right like something better was about to happen. To me, it was freeing myself from the debt of my divorce and getting the lawyers off my back a****st other things like just being able to sleep normally again. So i clear my plate like i planned and got all the BS finally behind me and throw in the 'white towel' on owning another car. While talking with a buddy at work about selling my coupe and getting on with my life i had made mention my dream car was a 58 Impala so he looks at me puzzle and says 'Them the ones with the fins and 3 lights outback?? I said Yes...Why? He replies just wondering..Nothing much came out of it...He returns the following day and says here...Call this number....Long story short i did...It was a one owner all original 1958 Chevy Impala last registered in 1978. After several pics and e-mails the deal was made but now came the task of getting it home. I put a couple pms out to the crew here on HAMB and fellow hamber 'racinman' Rick of Showtime Transport stepped up to have the car on its way 2 days after the deal was finalized. Like any deal over the net and i've been burned a couple of time with cars not being as described this car was everything the guy said it was and more....Now i'm finally the proud owner of a real 58 Impala...Here are the pics the night it showed up and the following day after really checking the car over.

Looks solid and complete! Hard to believe that these were "undesireable" at one point. You could just about polish it up and drive it as is. Chrome reverse wheels? PM me if you are interested in a complete 283.

Y'know, I never thought of the 58 Chevy as a finned car... I still don't.

A great piece you have there, always liked them and regret not capturing the one in Centerville TX at Goolsby's Gulf junkyard, it was black, had 59 Cad taillamps, floorshift, early 60s Chevy buckets, leather interior...all for $350. Had to p***, it was too much for a dead Chevy. Hope someone got it before the crushers came after he died.

Good score, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it. I fell in love with a red '58 with a red and white interior as a kid. In all the years since I've only seen a couple like it.

It really is a super solid car and the ones i generally found were shot with a ton of **** missing expecting big money...I couldnt believe when i saw the pics how unmolested it was and then once it got the car here i crawled underneath it to see how dry it was i was sooo stoked..Its going to be a really nice piece!!

    Bump for you...
You already know my feelings on white 58 Impala's, so without even seeing it yet you know i like it, and a 'W' motor is my favorite bar none.
Congratulations on finding your 'one', i'm happy to see you finally get it. I truly feel you will enjoy this much more than the A.

  26. Last one I saw upstate was in a junkyard... black with tri-tone turquise seats... well, you could stand on the ground inside the car, it was up on 55 gallon drums. I don't know if they sold that car or s****ped it, but it's gone now.

I do know where there's a ragtop that's sitting outside rotting, it would probably run and go but the top's down. It might be buyable, but the guy really doesn't need to sell it or anything, so it sits.
