I used to be able to right-click on a photo and copy the image link, then bring it into Google image search to find more information about the car or part pictured. Now, when I do that, i get this error: I could understand if this was a way to keep visitors from stealing the HAMB's content, but I can still choose 'save as' and save the pic. If I do that, I can upload it to Google image search, but its pretty ***bersome. Any ideas?
Hello, Since it did not originate on a Google webpage, it is sometimes difficult to get a search to start. On the HAMB if the photo is posted, then it is already on a website If it is Google, which 90 % of folks use, then the search goes to various places where the photo was used previously. Not all are factual and give a lot of information, since a lot of photos are copied and pasted for the different web pages. There are places on the web that have valuable information that is what you have to seek. Check several sources and when the information is similar or almost exact, then it is good. But, the other side is that, copy and paste is always handy for those that have no idea what the background, other than "nice hot rod in a forest"...YRMV Jnaki Copy the photo and paste it on a specific webpage. Post it or go to where you got the page and do the right click search directions and see where it takes you. It has to be on a webpage, especially on a Google page for the right click Google search to work. For example? Who the heck knows what this is or came from? This copy and paste does not work until I post it on the HAMB. Then I can right click and do a Google search. It works... only if it is currently posted on a webpage. Also, it does not matter what format one saves any photo. On your own computer, one can change it to JPEG or anything else you want to save. Photos are usually Jpegs.
Thanks for the response. I get the same error on Firefox and Brave on a pretty generic Windows 11 laptop. It sounds like @jnaki can still right-click and search, so it may be something peculiar about this PC, but I have no idea what it could possibly be. Next time I'm at the library I'll try it on their PC, they have several browsers loaded.
Hello, Sorry if I did not get it to the point: Copy the photo and paste it on a specific webpage. Post it or go to where you got the page and do the right click search directions and see where it takes you. It has to be on a webpage, especially on a Google page for the right click Google search to work. Firefox and Edge both have the same rules for this application to work. We would all like to be able to paste a photo on any server and do a "seek" for more information. But, it has to be a part of the embedded part of any website for the Google search to work. It may be your computer, but I have used the "paste" on a simple small Chromebook , a low end HP laptop and two high end Alienware powerhouses, as well as a ton of powerful tower builds. Jnaki In each opportunity, it was mandatory that the actual photo be a part of a website pasted and saved to make the search for more information work. So, it is not your computer or laptop. My wife has had several CPU towers and back then, the process still worked for us. Her current tower uses Google and she has not had a problem with search engines or photo information searches on the Google Empire. Save your trip to the library or computer cafes. They all work the same with the "googly gop" coding rules and one of the rules is that it has to be on a computer web page pasted and be a part of the program. Then, a Google search, using a "right click" will work on the photographs. Not all results are real facts, so, that is why it is necessary to do several searches and weed out the ordinary copy/paste folks and the endless action on webpages. YRMV
