change light color

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 1oldschool1, Jul 20, 2012.

  1. So, Ive added a few gauges to my dash. I would like to match the illumination of the additional gauges to my factory illumination. (a very *****in green) I've tried those lil rubber caps. those **** and don't work. I have not been able to source a green bulb. I've painted the bulbs. they turned a light shade of green. however not quite the shade I'm looking for. Any suggestions?

I would try some green led lamps. You can get them at your local autozone or whatever.

The original gages probably are just painted green inside, so the light that reflects is green. It's hard to duplicate that look without doing it the same way. But your new gages are probably sealed.

If you get some 4 lead LEDs that are used in solar powered walk lights, you may be able to wire them up so that the green comes pretty close to what you want. By putting different value current limiting resistors on each anode lead, you can match the colors. PM me if you want a diagram.
