May not be hamb friendly but thinking of changing my steel rims and chevy caps American rims something like this look. Yes/ no waddayathink My car pic arttached. this
I'm with Bishop, those hubcaps don't cut it very well on that car. The all too 80's looking mag wheels don't seem right either but it could use something shiny and raise the rear end enough to get the same tire to fender clearance as the fronts have.
There's not too many ways to make the black car not look right. Unfortunately, both those wheel choices do. Put those caps back on the truck they came off of, paint the steelies a contrasting color, ring & cap 'em proper, & call it done.
You need to change the wheels, go with something you like or you won't be happy. It is always good to get ideas from others but you are the final judge of what looks right to you. I get crap from people about running Torque Thrusts on my mild custom T-Bird part of the time but I like them better than the chrome wheels I have.
Torque Thrusts will always look Bitchin on a Model A Tudor. Very reminiscent of the cars from the Early Times Club in the 60's. Those ones you showed - not so much
Your car your call do what you like. While some may like it and some may not who needs permission? One of mine.
These are the actual ones I' thought might be an improvement. I do like the steelies caps and rings. Contrasting color I never thoughy of. Now I'm all confused...
Bob- I'm not a fan of those wheels at all. Too modern, unattractive rivets, and the same size front and rear. An early '30s sedan must have a big/little wheel combination. For sure, ESPECIALLY the original, straight-spoke ones. I'm not a fan of the D-spokes. For your sedan, a pair of 15x8s in the rear and 14x6s in the front are the ticket. I normally don't put 14" on anything anymore, but full-fendered early '30s cars are my lone exception, and only in the front. There's always Halibrands, also. A dark car with polished Halibrands is perfection.
As my pic shows I have 15" rearX28" tires and 14" frontLower profile tires with same tread. I hate the side wall treatment but do like how the radials work in the turns. I do know that the truck caps are not cutting it. Thanks for the input . Will look into a contrasting color and different caps.
Sounds like the best plan, and it's easy to try. Probably not on the Cape, but some cheap swapmeet single used caps to test try? You'd only need one to get an idea.
Right, no awap meets here on the cape. But we do have several cruise nites and of coures sunday drives. I like cruising the cape cause its slow drivin' and there are a ton of enthusists here.Lot of retired folks with rods and restored. Hyannis has a fathers day show.
I was last there in late June. I only saw a black 40 Ford Deluxe coupe hotrod with part of the grille missing, passing the other way, about mid-Cape. But, the whole time I was there, I was wishing my car was done and wishing i had it there. It's got to be great to cruise there.
all three sets of wheels dont look right for that car. the weld wheels look to pro street, and the other two sets look like there for a truck. i'd say start collecting photos you like on sedans and when you decide, don't compromise. get the ones you like or look right for that car.if you get ones just because there a good price, you wont be happy. size wise, big and little is best. 15x7or8 in the back if you can,15x5or6 or 14x6 looks right up front.
